24.01.2022 A big thanks to Alan Males for replenishing all the fuel stocks. :) Our relentless curating volunteers (Neil, Graham, Barry - all under Terry's supervision!) can continue, uninterrupted, manicuring our brilliant field environs for us all to enjoy. Thanks to all.

24.01.2022 Alan Males debuted yet another model today. This is a Multiplex Cub. Very nice and flew well. Nice, Alan. :)

22.01.2022 Sunday 10th brought another beautiful flying day to SADAC and drew a good assembly of Members and visitors. Young Sammi is really hitting her straps since going solo a couple of months ago. She is really embracing it all and improving her flying. She had multiple flights on Ian Byers's Kombat plane and some on the Stik that was provided to her by the Dodgy Bros. Great to see her out there ripping around! Additonally, Jacko kindly passed on to Sammi a lovely little warbird - S...ammi was pleasantly surprised. A great gesture - thanks Graeme. :) Sammi's friend, 15 year old Finn also joined SADAC today and his father, Leigh, is now a Social Member. Welcome to our new Members! Finn is still acquiring the hardware required to go flying and he was substantially aided today with the gift, from Jeff Sharpe, of a lovely little Piper Cub. Finn was delighted and very appreciative! He will need to gather a few more items of paraphernalia and he will be off and running. Thank you very much, Jeff. :) Finn's father, Leigh, had a run on the Club Cub trainer and, despite being a past full size pilot of ample experience and more aligned with Mode 2, he managed Mode 1 very well and enjoyed himself. Maybe he can be convinced to become a flying Member soon. :) Young Max attended with his father, Peter, and both flew several times. Max continues to progress his flying under tuition from SADAC Instructor, Stephen Green. He is doing very well and spent much of today's flights with the plane in a more challenging flight mode. Well done, Max! SADAC Heavy Model Inspector, Bob Bennetts was called upon to re-certify a large Piper Pawnee for Ross Bathie from Melbourne. The plane weighs 52 kilos and requires a commensurate Inspector to perform the task. Bob is qualified to certify models up to 150 kilograms. The requisite inspections were carried out and the plane was then flown with the assembled gallery looking on. Very impressive to see the plane, powered by a 340cc twin 2 stroke engine, take to the air and flown in such a scale manner by Ross. The plane is often used as a tug for very large gliders of which Ross has many. Alan Males was unfortunate to see his Proctor EDF suffer some substantial damage when it was deftly converted temporarily into a lawn dart. :( Not sure If alan is yet clear on the failure mode - hope he gets to the bottom of it. Much other flying was conducted by all and sundry making a really good day out. Pictured is Ross's Pawnee during the pre-flight inspection process. It's size can be gauged by Sammi alongside it! We are so pleased to see our Membership growing so well, especially the influx of Juniors to our ranks. Thank you to all Members and especially the curators and others who volunteer substantial time and effort to see SADAC running as smoothly and harmoniously as it does and with such well presented facilities. Regards, Stephen Green SADAC Treasurer

22.01.2022 Peter was previously a Member at SADAC but has had about a nine year sabbatical. He decided to get back into it and came equipped with a new E-Flite Apprentice and a Spektrum DX9 radio. After checking over the setup and configuring wireless buddy system, the plane was duly test flown by SADAC Instructor Stephen Green and quickly switched over to Peter who flew it without a problem. He is straight back on the horse. Well done, Peter. Peter also came equipped with his son, Max.... Max was provided the opportunity to have a fly under instruction and he did a brilliant job. Well done to Max and great to see some initial apprehension immediately converted into a beaming smile and wanting more! :) The plane had about half a dozen successful and productive flights. Fair to say that are both looking forward to their next day at the SADAC field. Pictured are Peter and Max with their Apprentice.

22.01.2022 The surge of new members at SADAC continues. We are pleased to welcome Peter Linke as our newest Member. Peter this morning had the opportunity to maiden his new MAULE / DX9 with SADAC Instructor, Stephen Green. Peter is very keen and from an aviation background. His first flights went very well and he has gone home excitedly pleased. Well done, Peter. Peter is pictured with his E-Flite MAULE on the way to the flight line for the maiden flight. As expected, the aircraft was f...aultless. The fog soon cleared away to a perfect flying day. We look forward to seeing Peter at the field many more times and the timing is excellent with the roll back of COVID restrictions.

19.01.2022 Another great day at SADAC field! Really good flying conditions. Mick Fallon arrived with a very nice Pilot 47% Decahlon for certification and test flight. Powered by a DA 170cc twin 2 stroke and guided by JR, it effortlessly rose form the strip and flew faultlessly. Chris and nine year old Seth Huntingford were here with bells on! They have an infectious enthusiasm for flying and the Club. They arrived yesterday morning with their caravan in tow and didn't sign out until to...day after camping overnight on site. They had a great time putting in stacks of flights with their matching P51s and their trusty Maule. Seth's Mustang was a Christmas present and had a perfect maiden flight yestersday. He was pretty happy! Seth is flying particularly well. Well done, lads. :) Many other Members attended and much happy flying done. Pictured are Chris and Seth with their Mustangs and Mick's Decathlon along with its maiden take off.

19.01.2022 SADAC wishes all its Members, their families and all our friends a very merry Christmas. May the boundless R/C items in your stocking bring you endless pleasure! See you at the field soon. :) Regards, Stephen.

19.01.2022 Peter and his son Max attended SADAC today. Peter recently re-joind the Club after a nine year hiatus. Peter successfully re-gained his Bronze Wings today as assessed by Instructor, Stephen Green. Congratulations, Peter. Nine year old Max today also joined SADAC as a Junior Member. Welcome to SADAC and congratulations, Max! ... Max had several flights on their E-Flite Apprentice and was again quickly learning the basics. Brilliant to see him so keen, excited and happy with his efforts. Well done, Max!

18.01.2022 Father and son team, Chris and Sam both had further lessons today albeit in blustery, cold conditions. SADAC Instructors, Stephen Green and Ian Byers shared the duties to give the boys about eight flights. It was Chris's second day on the sticks, Sam has been at it for a while. Sam just needs a couple of reasonable days of weather to prepare for his Bronze Wings assessment. Well done, lads! :)

18.01.2022 Graham W maidened his new scratch built Depron sheet delta wing Polaris today. They are a great looking plane in flight and it went very well. :) Well done, Graham and to Bob B for assisting with set up and trimming.

14.01.2022 SADAC was well attended again today in pleasant, if not a little breezy, conditions. Was excellent to see another great turn out of Junior members. Sam, Sammi and Max were there taking lessons with Instructors Ian Byers and Stephen Green. The wind makes the pilots work harder at accuracy and is beneficial to them. Chris Wicks is one of our newer mature age students and has a new (used) airplane that requires a few minor repairs to restore airworthiness. These will duly be im...plemented and Chris can soon resume training. We have been delighted to be signing up so many new Members this year to the extent that the Club presently has more Members than it ever had in the past. Having the Juniors including one young lady is a bonus of diversity. Neil and Graham have been doing such a good job of curating the field with the slasher and mower and Graham has done an excellent job of tuning the mower deck to get a much better, level cut on the short grass areas including the strip. In conjunction with Barry's relentless efforts at weed control and Frank irrigating, our team of volunteers is delivering us a magnificent facility to operate from. Thanks to all. :)

13.01.2022 A challenge from Rowdy. Any one have the plans for this...?

12.01.2022 Those attending the SADAC field today had the pleasure of seeing two recent recipients of Bronze Wings taking the opportunity to embark on their solo flying careers. Thirteen year old Sammi was ripping around with one of Ian Byers' Kombat models. She is doing very well. The somewhat more senior Peter Linke was also spied there having a great time with his Maule. ... So good to see these new pilots taking to the skies and gaining their confidence and pleasure from the sport. Sammi is pictured with one of Ian's Kombat models.

11.01.2022 Hello, SADACers. :) The SADAC Committee are working to establish the actual requirements of any changes to the COVID related circumstances in light of the pending rollback provisions. To our knowledge, there is not a specific reference to 'sport' activities in the regional setting. We are trying to clarify the VicGov expectations for our activities. Obviously, in the meantime, the status quo remains with a maximum of two persons on site at the field along with use of the atte...ndance log, masks, social distancing and hygiene requirements at least until Monday 14th. We thank Members for diligently embracing the constraints to date. The Committee will advise Members as soon as possible of any definitive information we can provide but expect to publish something before Monday. Thank you all for your cooperation under some difficult circumstances. :) As an aside, I would like to take the opportunity to express my sincere thanks that this page has not become in any way a political argument or 'pollie bashing' opportunity. As an admin, I would ask that it remains that way - i.e. basically exclusively directly pertaining to SADAC and areomodelling discussion and devoid of political or other distractions. Thank you! :) Regards, Stephen Green, SADAC Treasurer.

10.01.2022 Perfect conditions this morning at SADAC. This aided maiden flights for two planes and heralded the beginning of R/C flying for one of the pilots. Peter Robbins purchased a new E-Flite Maule early last year but COVID put the brakes on his intentions. Well, today saw the confluence of opportunity and conditions and he arrived with his plane ready to go. After some checks and a trim flight by SADAC Instructor Stephen Green, it was switched over on the wireless buddy system to P...eter who took to it very well. The fourth flight was almost all done with SAFE switched off. Peter was grinning from ear to ear! Great work, Pete. We both look forward to more opportunities for Peter to fly and work toward his Bronze Wings attainment. Alan Males had a brand new, scratch built AKRO 1740 with a 20cc DLE petrol engine. Finished in a striking hot pink livery, it flew very well. Two faultless sorties were completed. Alan went home very happy! :) Pictured are Peter with his Maule and Alan with his AKRO. After the morning's flying, both planes still look the some so we consider it a success!

08.01.2022 Pretty wet at the field today but between showers a few of us managed some flights. Among attendees today was 15 year old Finn, an about-to-be SADAC Member. He had a good chat and learned a lot. He was then taken for a flight on the Club Cub trainer with SADAC Instructor, Stephen Green and, given that he has really established himself on Mode 2 via computer games and a couple of RC flights, he did very will with a Mode 1 Tx. Finn is pictured with the Club trainer on the way ...out to the pilot's box for his sortie. I think we will soon be welcoming Finn as an official SADAC Member. So good to have another junior in our ranks. :)

07.01.2022 As of today we have yet another 'newest Member'! Welcome Chris Wicks who joins his son, Sam, as a Member. Chris took his first training flights today with SADAC Instructor Stephen Green on the family Sport Cub trainer. Chris did well for his first flights and in breezy conditions. As well, Sam had four flights and has suddenly seen it 'all come together' and he flew easily the most competently and confidently that I have seen. He should now achieve Bronze Wings standard very ...soon. Well done to the Wicks! Chris and Sam are pictured with their HobbyZone Cub.

07.01.2022 I am a fan of the A10 Warthog, this has to be up there with the most realistic RC model of one. Enjoy https://youtu.be/iWZTTg0hEwI

06.01.2022 Congratulations to thirteen year old Sammi who today has gone solo with her attainment of MAAA Bronze Wings standard. :) Sammi was under instruction and assessment of SADAC Instructor Ian Byers in good conditions and, following some diligent effort and refinement, is now up and running on her own. She immediately went on to complete three entirely successful solo flights and then was also given some stick time on one of Ian's Dodgy Bros. Kombat planes which she dealt with we...ll. I believe she is keen to try a bit of combat flying. We look forward to seeing Sammi at the field more and perhaps she might inspire other young ladies to experience model aviation. They would be made very welcome at SADAC. Thanks to Shelby for so keenly facilitating Sammi's attendance at the field. Sammi's Wings and Certificate will be sent to her by the SFI, Les Marriner. Pictured is Sammi with her Mini Apprentice - a photograph taken some time ago.

03.01.2022 Big congratulations to eleven year old Sam who today earned MAAA Bronze Wings! :) Sam has been flying at SADAC for some time and recently saw a surge in eagerness to become solo. Sam rose to the occasion with some great progress and was today examined by SADAC Instructor, Ian Byers and achieved the required standard. We look forward to Sam winging around the SADAC field solo and with confidence as he explores the his opportunities in this excellent pastime. ... Thanks also to Sam's great family for keenly facilitating his attendance at the filed. Well done, Sam. Now your father, Chris needs to get put through the wringer! Sam is pictured being congratulated and receiving his Wings from Instructor, Ian Byers.

01.01.2022 SADAC had a brilliant day at the field and enjoying a rare alignment of a Sunday with excellent flying weather. Among the attendees were numerous student pilots who were variously under the tuition of Stephen Green, Ian Byers and Bob Bennetts. Peter, Max, Sam, Chris and Sammi all had excellent time on the sticks. We look forward to some attaining Bronze Wings soon. :)
