11.01.2022 The Sale and District Agricultural Society has welcomed a State Government funding boost towards major upgrades at the Sale Showgrounds. The $500,000 investment has been made available through the Latrobe Valley Authoritys Community Facility Fund, announced today by local member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing. This important funding announcement will enable the Sale and District Agricultural Society to continue to attract people to the Gippsland region. The project will ...see the demolition of existing aged buildings and the construction of a new complex accommodating an administration centre, multi-purpose rooms and amenities. Sale and District Agricultural Society President Lance Mitchell believes the redevelopment will make a significant contribution to the Sale Showgrounds and the wider region. As a result of the Latrobe Valley Authoritys contribution, it means this long overdue project can now take place Mr. Mitchell said. With the increased facilities and amenities, it allows the Sale Showgrounds to host new and larger events, meaning increased spending within the local economy, he said. As a community managed, not for profit organisation dating back to 1859, the Sale and District Agricultural Society has an exciting future ahead. Mr. Mitchell said. The project is expected to boost the local economy by $3.8 million with an additional 15,000 visitors per year and 4,500 extra overnight visits at the Showgrounds. Local construction contractors will soon have the opportunity to tender for the project.

04.01.2022 Coronavirus Challenge No. 1 With so many of us spending more time at home to contain the spread of the coronavirus, tell me what jobs have you been able to get ...done already? On the weekend I finally got around to transplanting some pot bound golden cane palms; mulching a new garden bed (that I promised Julie a couple of years ago); putting some new natives into the pots and chopping up a dead tree for firewood. Send a comment and pix of a job youve finally got around to during social isolation. I will give a bottle of local wine to the three best projects you nominate! No correspondence will be entered into and the judges decision is final. Show me how youve kept yourself busy, Gippsland. #lovegippsland
