25.01.2022 Are we living at the 'end of days'? Blood sun and smoke covers the Salisbury Plains last evening. And yet we are still so much better off than some.

25.01.2022 Salisbury Court is on tour visiting Sydney and contemplating the pleasures of being in a closed environment for 3 weeks with 4000 of your closest friends. Bon voyage Ovation of the seas.

25.01.2022 Oops that went down a little too quickly! Salisbury Court is on tour and away from the farm for a few days. Enjoying kiwi hospitality at the Fork and Brewer.

25.01.2022 This is Chase, another in the line of VLDs - very lucky dogs - that have come to live at Salisbury. Piper is not too sure yet about this development but Chase seems to not be too worried. Chase is another rescue dog that apparently didn't have aptitude for stok work - belied by his first few days here where he seems pretty adept at rounding up the lambs.

23.01.2022 Another step in the 'infinity project'. Converting old sun-room to conservatory/retreat - some 9 months or so in the making.

23.01.2022 Summer Project #2 - Investigation revealed not much support from an old girder under the floor of the master bedroom! Job was to jack up and prop the girder, dig/pour new footings, repair the girder splice and 'sister' in a new support beam and place permanent new posts. Not a difficult job but a good workout for core muscles, hips and shoulders!! Final result - floor has lost its bounce for first time in quite a few years.

22.01.2022 Our hearts go out to those slaving through drought conditions across Australia but that also sing when hearing of the innovation and planning that provides resilience to livestock operations. Check out this Landline report. http://www.abc.net.au//defying-the-drought:-the-f/10109792

22.01.2022 Is it possible?

21.01.2022 Sorry for all the 'shares' you may have received today but I'm just catching up with connecting to some of the great local businesses that support Salisbury Court.

21.01.2022 A nice end to the weather year with 10 mm of rain yesterday to finish at 822 mm for the year; ahead of last year - just - and ahead of the long term average. However, not exactly a conventional seasonality - but then again I'm not sure what is, anymore.

20.01.2022 Summer Project #3 - HUZZAH! Woolly socks (actually polyester blanket) installed for the bedroom floor. Now I can come above ground to start next stage above the floorboards!

20.01.2022 -5 deg C this morning, but no more complaining about NE winter until -10.

20.01.2022 Summer Project #1. I vowed 2017 was our last winter being cold in the Stone House, so these are proof of the project to remove 30 year old insulation - old flocked newspaper - and about 100 years of possum and rat droppings and replace with nice new cozy R6 insulation batts - 180 SQM worth. Next project underfloor - yay!

19.01.2022 I know there's no rain in these clouds but there's still something beautiful about sunrise over Salibsury

19.01.2022 Chase thought that he might just blend in to the background without me noticing.

19.01.2022 Cookie starting to feel at home. Surveying the front paddock and a delightful tinge of green. After such a dire 2019, we've had half of last year's total so far in January 2020. Hoping that everyone that needs it is getting the same.

17.01.2022 Severe unlike to the lazy numbskull that loads their vehicle, drives to Salisbury Plains and dumps on our driveway, a load of old bike tyres - for the third time - without bothering to drive the extra 5 mins and do the same thing at the waste station. Some humans I do not understand!

16.01.2022 Phew! I'm glad that's over - but not sure what is still to come. In 125 years of continuous rain records at Salisbury Court, 2019 was the worst on record by a staggering 50%. Amazing - half the rainfall of the previous worst year and 1/3 of our long term average. And that was after 2018 being the third worst on record. Across the Salisbury Plains and the rest of New England, NSW and Australia, each day we look to the sky, wonder and hope!

16.01.2022 Quiet end to a busy week for all at Salisbury. Joining the crowd on the verandah for a glass of red - contemplating the idea of rain.

15.01.2022 Uralla and surrounds, check out the Uralla Grants process to share in the community benefit that the UPC solar project is providing to our local region.

15.01.2022 A photo from Uralla community vault. Sale day on Salisbury, possibly from around the 1930's.

14.01.2022 A Spring visitor to the Salisbury garden. Four or five echidna or one sighted several times in the last few days around the place. This time rare and up close.

13.01.2022 Salisbury in lock down but still a normal Sunday morning for the fur family. Piper catching the rays, Cookie (in the background) trying to kill an ice cream container.

10.01.2022 Dog whisperer required - is this a sign of stress or relaxation?? No, wait, I think I know. Piper's Sunday morning nap!

10.01.2022 Oops! What do these two photos have in common - potato grow-bag explosion and kelpie puppy. Ummmm??! Trish not very happy.

10.01.2022 Another piece from the vault - thanks to everyone who sends or shares this type of information. An item on one of the old rose plantings, dates it to the mid 1800's. Still going strong and still through a hole in the concrete...

05.01.2022 Seriously? Just the second day of Winter and already snow? It's going to be a long Winter.

03.01.2022 PIPER! That is not what this delicately crafted rock garden and water feature was intended for! But to be fair, it's a great way to cool off your butt on a warm day.

02.01.2022 Salisbury Court is on tour. A couple of days in outback NT and WA. Puts our lack of rain back home in a bit more context.

01.01.2022 So much to do, so many people in need - proud of the folks at Practical Systems - BlazeAid a great, deserving organisation.

01.01.2022 Cookie trying to impersonate a shark waiting for unsuspecting passing swimmers - and cooling off in the meantime.
