23.01.2022 In an earlier post this week, I talked about KPIs and how they can help you to make the BEST business decisions. Today, I want to talk about one very important KPI. It's your gross wages to revenue %. Because wages are one of the BIG expenses in your business, it's vital to always know how much of your total revenue is going to pay your gross wages.... Just a few % too high and it could mean that you aren't able to pay some of your other expenses or, even worse, you won't take home a wage yourself that week. This important figure will be slightly different in each business depending on varying factors but I strongly suggest you begin monitoring it weekly or as you do your wages. 19.01.2022 I'm not normally one to feather my own nest however, I received this from a long-term client just before Christmas and would love to share it with you. It certainly made the end of 2020 pretty special for me. Dear Pam Just wanting to wish you and the family a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. Let's hope it is better than the last one haha! ( Whoever would have imagined!)... I also wanted to thank you for your continued support, friendship, reality and spell checks throughout the year. Thank you for being a listening ear and for challenging my thought processes. Sometimes they can get out of hand lol. I really enjoy working with you and catching up each month. It gives me great direction, focus and has definitely paid off this year achieving a goal of mine for the last 4 years of winning the 2020 Local Business Awards, I got there! This year one of my goals was, "release to increase" and I really feel like it's all coming together. After the bumpy start with the Covid shutdown, to losing all my long term staff, I am actually really proud of where I am right now. 2020 has taught me the true meaning of resilience and has given me the opportunity and time to make some necessary changes, to do things and look at things differently. Things that I didn't even realise needed changing. I have moved forward with new staff, implementing new training and strategies and I stepped further away from the clients at work, something I never thought possible, and being able to put some more creative energy back into it from behind the scenes which I am loving and refining my processes all the while. The hard work is paying off and I thank you for your ever encouraging input, your brilliant way with words and guiding hand. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! There's never going to be a better time than right now to plan out your coming year and determine what you want to achieve.... Many people come unstuck at the thought of setting some business goals and give up and, often, that's because they attempt to do too much at once. It just becomes too difficult and ends up in the do-later basket. Revamping your business takes time and, so, even though your do-over list might be extensive, it's best to tackle just a few items initially. To get started, try looking at your business in terms of client attraction, client retention and profit-generating strategies. Create 3 columns with these headings on a spreadsheet or just a piece of paper and, list your ideas and goals within each column. Decide on which strategies, if acted upon, will make the biggest impact on your business right now. For some businesses, it might be that a price increase is urgently required (profit-generating) or it might be that retaining more new clients is essential (client retention), or even if your business is relatively new or you've lost a lot of clients recently, you need to focus on gaining more clients (client attraction). Every business is in a different stage of their own cycle, so you need to focus on your business and not those around you. Decide what strategies are most important to your business right now and start working on those. 07.01.2022 Each week I do my best to send out a worthwhile email that contains business-changing information to my subscriber list. I generally cover what I consider to be 1 important growth topic per week. Each week, without exception, I get a number of unsubscribes; which doesn't faze me at all.... I figure that these are the people who would never be my ideal clients because they aren't interested in what I have to teach them about growing a more successful business. It happens but it doesn't feel particularly good!... You now know that a once-valuable client has gone elsewhere and you wonder what the hell occurred to make that happen.
