25.01.2022 REMOTE STYLING FAILURE #1 When your client sends you a photo of the plant you had delivered to them and it is ever so slightly larger than it looked in the photo from the supplier . A little Facetime haircut ensued and violà, a perfect sized plant was achieved! Not that he should be complaining though, I scored this beauty for him from @melbourneindoorplants who are selling amazing (and very large as it turns out) indoor plants for a steal. ... Like all of you, our life and business has been turned upside down by Covid. During this time I've been approached by some people asking if I could assist them with restyling their spaces. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and I've been having so much fun spending other people's money that I just might take it up full time!! Our ethos is to use secondhand and salvaged materials where possible but that is not always the style my clients are after. Where that is the case I steer them towards great quality products built to last. I have trade relationships with numerous suppliers whose discounts I pass on to my clients. I charge a really simple transparent hourly rate for my work. If you are interested in having a little change up of your space and would like some advice (remotely of course) I would be so happy to help. I might even buy you a plant that fits your space.

23.01.2022 Bush life might take some getting used to !

21.01.2022 As we enter the second half of what is proving to be an annus horribilis we have just finished moving out of our factory. It has been a massive few weeks of selling off loads of materials that we could no longer afford to store. It was equal parts cathartic and harrowing as we once again pivot (surely the buzzword of 2020 ) to keep our small business viable. ... Adding to this difficult time was the constant abuse from our previous neighbour who frequently also made false police reports about us and continues to harass me personally via phone and stalk our social media. But we push that to one side and carry on because we are lucky. Lucky to have one another, lucky to have a wonderful network of family and friends, lucky to be living the life we do. During the move we put this beaut little 13 foot York van up for sale and there had been loads of interest in it but we have decided we can’t part with it and it will now be our next project. Our little Yorkie is going to get a makeover and have a new life as an @airbnb holiday rental. We have some ideas about where we might put her when she is done but if have a spot that you think might suit, please get in touch as we are always keen to collaborate with like minded people.

20.01.2022 New adventures.... We are quitting the city and making the permanent move to Ballarat. A year of renovation ahead in 2021 as we transform our ugly duckling into something incredible. Plans are also underway for a second B&B to be launched early next year. ... Prepare yourselves for renovation spam!

19.01.2022 Today I celebrate a BIG milestone birthday in a most unusual year. I have intentionally planned a very quiet day at home to allow time for reflection amongst the simple, beautiful celebration my family has planned for me. So here goes.... Life goes quickly, and very rarely how you planned, hoped or imagined it would. It can be devastatingly sad and also truly magnificent, this has been particularly true during my last decade in which I have lived the lowest of lows and t...he highest of highs. I endeavour to live my life looking towards the future with childlike anticipation. I try extraordinarily hard to look back only with fondness and for learning and to live in the present moment with grace, joy and acceptance. Brené Brown sums it up perfectly in her "Manifesto for the Brave & Brokenhearted" There is no greater threat to the critics and cynics and fear mongers Than those of us who are willing to fall Because we have learned how to rise. With skinned knees and bruised hearts; We choose owning our stories of struggle, Over hiding, over hustling, over pretending. When we deny our stories, they define us. When we run from struggle, we are never free. So we turn toward truth and look it in the eye. We will not be characters in our stories. Not villains, not victims, not even heroes. We are the authors of our lives. We write our own daring endings. We craft love from heartbreak, Compassion from shame, Grace from disappointment, Courage from failure. Showing up is our power. Story is our way home. Truth is our song. We are the brave and brokenhearted. We are rising strong. So tonight I will raise a glass with those I love the fiercest and toast this amazing blessed life that I have. 18.01.2022 Our beautiful church is once again open for bookings!

18.01.2022 Let me tell you about my bestie Nellie..... Nellie and I have been friends since our kids met at kinder well over 10 years ago. She is the kindest, most generous soul I know, not just to me but to every single person that has the privilege of crossing paths with her. Nellie runs the most gorgeous cooking school Relish Mama Cooking Classes and pre Covid she was the hardest working person I knew. Since Covid struck she is working even more hours and constantly pivoting and ada...pting her business model her as she faces each new challenge this pandemic throws at her. Honestly, I don't know how she keeps going but so great is the depth and breath of her passion that she is fighting with all she has to keep her school open and her beloved customers well fed. Nellie rarely asks for help so when she does the answer is always a resounding yes before I fully know what I am getting into. So when she asked if I would sit in on her first live online class last weekend little did I know I was about to co-host my first Zoom conference. I quickly gave myself a ten minute crash course in Zoom, bunged on some lippy, poured myself a wine and proceeded to have the best hour and a half I've had in ages. We had so much fun we are doing it again this weekend! So if you are in need of a little entertainment and an awesome gnocchi dinner for your family I strongly encourage you pop on over to Relish Mama Cooking Classes and grab yourself a place in the class. I would so love to see some familiar faces in there! SIDE NOTE - I have been wondering if this was her way of getting me back for the time I entered us both in a half marathon and gave it to her as a birthday present??

18.01.2022 I love this bedhead as much today as the day we installed it. In fact, I still love everything about this project from a couple of years ago now. @jackcottage I can't wait for the day when we can go out fossicking again and find these unique, one off pieces that we love so much to incorporate in our work. C’mon Victoria, we can do it! ... @figcostudio

13.01.2022 We are using our time in lockdown to finally doing some of the jobs on our own house that have been on the "to do list" for many years. Thank goodness for an undercover deck on rainy Melbourne day to continue the planning process! Can wait to show you the finished result of the world's ugliest entrance way makeover! @ City of Bayside

10.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to this handsome groover. I’d put up a baby photo of me with my Dad but there isn’t any. I’m the fifth child and I think they got bored of taking photos by the time I came along. So much so that when we had to take a baby photo to school in grade prep they sent me off with one of my brothers. Imagine the money I have spent on therapy over the years on that!!! Seriously though, he is a ripper! He had to leave school very young and often tells us that ...he is dumb but a wiser, stronger, smarter man I have never met. He has always been my lighthouse whether the seas are stormy or calm and I am so blessed to still have him with us. Happy Father’s Day Gramps. Love ya. From the Kid xxx P.S. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your amazing Italian Papa feast from @relishmama that we sent you and even more pleased that it was better than the food that my brother sent you (the brother whose photo you made me take to school!)

09.01.2022 Inspiration comes in many guises and with 2020 being the year of sitting on our bums watching far too much television it is no surprise that our latest project came from Netflix and the hit demon drama, Lucifer. Our client asked us to collaborate with him to recreate the mood of the bar featured in the show in his city apartment. We have been working on the transformation of the whole apartment for many months but restrictions have meant it has been slow going. Keen for him to start enjoying at least one of the finished spaces, which he has completed work on himself, we conducted a remote styling session to get it set up. Using only what he already had I still think it looks pretty awesome and I can’t wait to get in there and finish off!

08.01.2022 As if 2020 has not been shit enough, this morning my favourite lady tradie (& daughter) woke to find her beloved Hi-Lux Ute containing her full @makitaaustralia kit and newly purchased nail gun had been stolen. Of course the car is insured but the tools are not covered. She insisted on buying her car and all her tools without help from us, using her meagre apprentice wage because that’s the kind of strong, independent woman she is. She will be fine but honestly it is just the icing on the cake of this horrible year. Bring in 2021!

07.01.2022 I just made a little clip documenting the transformation of our humble little red brick church built in 1875. Over 140 years ago prominent Lexton local, William Grayling, donated the land that the church was built on. We thought it only fitting to honour him by naming our B&B after him and his generous gift. Almost all of the build materials and furnishings were sourced second hand or made by us with salvaged materials. A few obvious exceptions ile the bed and linen but not much else....

07.01.2022 Is it just me or are others plotting their escape from city life? Hands up if you are spending hours trawling realestate.com.au & Domain looking for a country property, or a "Covid escape" as some agents are calling it?? Truth be told we were looking for one long before Covid hit (don't tell my Mum though). According to news reports I'm not alone. Should I share the fab ones I find with you? If nothing else it might alleviate lockdown boredom for a few minutes!!

07.01.2022 This cosy outdoor area at Grayling’s Gift was completed yesterday, just in time for today's announcement that they can reopen their doors to guests next week. Book via Grayling's Gift

06.01.2022 So thrilled to see our work featured on the cover of @the.australian Travel & Indulgence section this morning!
