22.01.2022 PUPPY FACTORY CRACKDOWN This week the #NSW Government announced a crackdown on illegal puppy factories. Puppy factories are both cruel and illegal in NSW, and their operators will stand no chance against a newly-formed Puppy Factory Taskforce within the RSPCA NSW that will scour the State.... Demand for pets has risen during the COVID-19 period and so too has reports of puppy factories, so it is critical government throws additional resources at this growing and deeply concerning problem. 21.01.2022 One of the best things about travelling around our regional communities is meeting local people like Jim from #Nyngan . Jim has recently had some health concerns and then tragically lost his home to fire only weeks after, but talking to him on the weekend you just couldn’t take the smile off of his face. One of the reasons Jim was smiling was because he got to officially open the new Nyngan Affordable Living units that he now calls home.... These units were completed thanks to the NSW Governments Stronger Country Communities Fund and provide suitable, safe and affordable living for the regions elderly. It was like winning the lottery, being told I got one of the units. Jim said. It is moments like these that really matter and why myself and my NSW Nationals colleagues fight so hard for the Regional Growth Fund to continue and expand. These are community projects making a positive difference to the lives of people in the regions, like Jim! Can’t wait to pop in for a cuppa next time I’m in town! John Barilaro Bogan Shire Council

03.01.2022 EAST ORANGE RESIDENTS TO GET THEIR SAY ON HOUSING DECISION After speaking with the people of Orange East it was clear to me that the only way to move forward was to bring all parties together and a community forum to be held next year will do just that. We’ve gone back to the drawing board and now we need Government, Council, LAHC and the community to come together, share ideas and discuss future plans.... I am looking forward to continuing these discussions and seeing what new ideas are brought to the table. Melinda Pavey Orange City Council Save East Orange

03.01.2022 Every Wednesday of a sitting week members get the opportunity to give a Private Members Statement on whatever they choose. Last sitting week I chose to share the story of Defence Community Dogs and the great work being done to give Dogs and inmates at #Bathurst Correctional Centre a new purpose in life and an opportunity to give back to society. Defence Community Dogs will hopefully be able to expand beyond Bathurst Correctional Centre, so that Veterans across NSW have greate...r access to the amazing support and life changing companionship a four legged friend can provide. 02.01.2022 This week, I took note of answers given by Minister for Small Business The Hon. Damien Tudehope, during question time about how local businesses are becoming COVID safe. The NSW economy has a long way to go before it will fully recover from COVID-19 but it is great to see restrictions easing and people being able to go back to business. Congratulations also goes to Minister Tudehope, who will be helping stimulate our economy through his daughter's wedding, which from December... 1 will be able to have up to 300 guests subject to the 4sqm rule. Many regional businesses rely on weddings and similar events throughout the year and it is great to see the NSW Government helping them increase their ability to continue to operate in these tough times.
