22.01.2022 CHAMBER ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS LIGHTCOMPETITION FOR 2020 We all know it's been a tough year for the Samford Valley Businesses, so the recent meeting of the Samford & Districts Chamber of Commerce saw the announcement that while the Chamber recognises that there’s still some difficult days ahead as local businesses move from survival mode towards recovery, it is more important than ever that the Chamber continues to support the Valley’s business community with the annual Christma...s Lights Competition. Starting early November and all the way to Christmas, with valued support again from Elders Insurance Northlakes, and some other soon-to-be-announced format changes, business owners are being asked to dig out and dust down those electric & solar lights in readiness for a bigger and better Christmas 2020 Lights Competition in conjunction with the Chambers ongoing BUY LOCAL campaign See more

20.01.2022 AND THE WINNER IS SAMFORD ! The Samford & Districts Chamber of Commerce 2020 Christmas Lights Competition may be over for another year, but Village businesses are encouraged to keep the Lights Burning all the way through to Christmas. The 2020 competition winners were SAMFORD VALLEY GARDEN CENTRE- Elders Insurance North Lakes Best Lights Display for a business of 5 or less staff (including owners) and SAMFORD VALLEY VETERINARY HOSPITAL - Samford Grove Retirement Villa...ge Best Lights Display for a business of 6 or more staff (including owners). What made the night such a success was the massive amount of effort put in by Samford businesses to make Main Street into a carnival of activities. The Chamber would like to thank the Samford & Districts Progress Association, The Village Pump, St Pauls Twilight Markets, and the whole business community for creating a spectacle for the wider Valley community See more

16.01.2022 Great effort by the local businesses in Samford Village with their Christmas lights such a great vibe.

13.01.2022 Our first face-to-face meeting since February saw 16 of our members enjoy a fantastic breakfast here at The Flying Nun Cafe where we all had 3 minutes to share our story. The buzz word was definitely "re-framing". And a big thankyou to Ward from W3 Website Design for his efforts to automate our Chamber's website. Also found out that Samford Design and Copy Centre are now a Cartridge World agent, good news for us in the valley, you can even click and collect. #supportlocalbusiness

03.01.2022 Our committee just attended another meeting with Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland for an update on how heavily they have been lobbying with State Govt for a COVID-19 Hotspot Recovery package to support small businesses in lockdown. As well as clarity on so many issues such as what constitutes an essential service? We had no idea what was going on - coupled with when everyone's left town, EOFY, the roadmap they provided is irrelevant. Businesses were having meeting...s and making decisions with information they were gleaming from socials as it took hours for the Qld Health website to be updated. It's been terribly challenging. We imagine that if the lockdown isn't extended there will be no package, if it's extended then we hope they do. That is a summary of this meeting that ended 2pm today. We will update as we have more information...thank you...Joanne Harding-Smith See more
