20.01.2022 At the start of lockdown I promised Alma I’d take her for a milkshake at Betty’s Burgers when the germs went away. Promise kept. Now about that real life unicorn...

19.01.2022 This week's state budget was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rebuild Victoria for the better, and it's positive to see that the Victorian Government has used this budget to make long overdue investments such as affordable housing, renewable energy, and jobs in the caring economy. These unprecedented investments resemble policies the Greens took to the 2018 state election and follow the months of campaigning we’ve done together for a Green New Deal.

19.01.2022 No one should be made to feel broken because of their sexuality or gender identity and that's why the Victorian Greens welcome the news that harmful sexuality and gender identity conversion practices will soon be outlawed across the state. This follows years of calls from the Greens and LGBTQA+ survivors to stamp out the bigoted practices, and we look forward to voting in support of the state government’s bill next year. Today is a win for equality and a day to celebrate wit...h the rainbow community right across our state. [Image description: A rainbow/LGBTQA+ pride flag and a trans pride flag (pink, blue and white stripes) overlap in the background. White text on a purple background reads: conversion practices to be banned in Vic. Smaller white text reads: A Bill to end cruel conversion practices has been introduced in VIC.]

19.01.2022 Pleased to join with Deaf Children Australia to celebrate the language, culture and community of Australians who are deaf and hard of hearing. If you're deaf or hard of hearing and you live in my electorate of Prahran, I'm here for you, and very open to learning how I can better support you. There are around 30,000 Australians using Auslan - you can find out more here: deafchildrenaustralia.org.au/hellomynameis... #DCAMyNameIs #DeafChildrenAustralia

18.01.2022 According to the 300 respondents to our Bike Safety Survey here's which streets in the Prahran electorate residents ride their bike on the most. You can see the results here: https://www.samhibbins.com/safe-bike-network A safe bike network for Prahran would: Create jobs in engineering, construction and manufacturing... Boost urban renewal and cut carbon emissions Reduce congestion while also reducing air pollution Improve people’s health, getting us fit and active!

17.01.2022 SUCCESS! After our community campaign, the Victorian Government has announced it will allow all students who were loaned a digital device to learn from home during the pandemic to keep them. This is a big win for disadvantaged students who were unable to access a computer or tablet at home. THANKYOU to everyone who supported this campaign - you've helped ensure thousands of school students in need have access to digital devices to help with their learning.... We’ll continue to push to ensure every Victorian school student has access to a computer and the internet at home.

17.01.2022 Government investment in the caring economy is the most effective way to create jobs overall and in particular women who have been the hardest hit by the economic fallout of Covid. The Greens want to create more jobs for teachers, nurses and social support workers as a key part of our economic recovery.

17.01.2022 Hard to believe I made it this far through the year without getting sick enough to need a covid test until this weekend. (Negative!) Even though we’re at triple donuts, if you have symptoms, please get tested. The testing clinic at Prahran Town Hall is still open 7 days a week.

17.01.2022 Voting for my friend Mike Scott, Greens candidate for South Ward - Stonnington. Have you got your ballot yet? Fill it out and send it back as soon as possible - your vote is important!

16.01.2022 Out the front of South Yarra station with Greens candidate for North Ward Sarah Barton and her daughter Stella. As anyone who uses South Yarra station would tell you, its usually chaos in front of the station in the morning. It's also dangerous and inaccessible to people in a wheelchair or people pushing a pram.... A new tram super stop is a fundamental part of the upgrade needed to the station. I'm urging the council to reverse their decision to block it and work with State Government to get it built as soon as possible.

16.01.2022 Had a chat with Tom Elliot on 3AW on why I believe it’s a good idea to lower the voting age. Whether it’s on the streets marching for change or in the classroom the young people I meet are more than capable of having a say in their future.

11.01.2022 The latest from the Victorian Greens in Spring Street including Covid-19, public housing, public transport and more.

10.01.2022 Public Transport should be accessible for everyone. If the upgrade to the busy and dangerous tram stop outside South Yarra station is blocked, what hope is there across the rest of the network? Please to be joined by disability advocate and Greens candidate for Stonnington North Ward Sarah Barton and her daughter Stella to call on Council to reverse their decision to block it and work with the State Government to get it built as soon as possible.... 07.01.2022 As we come out of the COVID-19 crisis, it's clear that Governments need to create jobs. Now is the time we can build back better by constructing more clean energy, building a local recycling and green manufacturing industry as well as investing in our caring economy. This Wednesday, New Zealand Conservation Minister, Greens MP - Eugenie Sage MP, will be joining us to talk about the $800m Green Projects initiative that they have launched as part of the NZ Government's COVID-19... response and what we could do right here in Victoria. You'll also hear from Mark Riley Moreland City Councillor on local solutions to our waste and environmental crises that generate the jobs we need to recover. WHAT: Webinar: Creating jobs and restoring the environment in a post-COVID world WHEN: 12pm, Wednesday 30 September WHERE: Via Zoom (we'll send you a link when you RSVP) RSVP: https://victoria.greens.org.au/gnd_enviro

07.01.2022 Young people are more switched on and engaged than ever before. We should give them the opportunity to shape our democracy. Our country would be all the better for it.

05.01.2022 Bike riders in Prahran are frustrated with the lack of safe bike infrastructure like separated bike lanes. I've asked the Minister for Roads and Roads Safety if any of the announced $13 Million for pop-up bikes lanes will be spent in the Prahran electorate. Follow the link to join our campaign for better bike infrastructure across our community - ... https://www.samhibbins.com/safe-bike-network See more

05.01.2022 The 2020 state budget makes record, and long overdue, investments that will help to rebuild a better Victoria for everyone such as in affordable housing, renewable energy, and jobs in the caring economy. These investments resemble policies the Greens took to the 2018 state election and follow the months of campaigning we’ve done together for a #GreenNewDeal. But while this is a once-in-a-generation budget, it’s important to ensure this isn't one-time support. The big issues... we face like homelessness, climate change and job insecurity won’t vanish after one budget. Join your Victorian Greens MPs for an online budget briefing tomorrow at 1pm, where we'll share with you how the budget measures up against our Green New Deal and what needs to happen next. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions and join in on the discussion! RSVP to attend and we'll send you the zoom link for tomorrow: greens.org.au/vic/budgetbriefing

05.01.2022 Throughout the pandemic, the Greens have been pushing to make riding a bike safer. With more and more people choosing to ride, governments around the world are creating more space for cyclists in response to COVID-19. That’s why we are so pleased at today’s announcement that Victoria will build pop-up bike lanes across inner Melbourne and introduce 'Metre Matters' laws.

04.01.2022 Our bike safety survey results are in! More than 70% of respondents said they would ride more often if we had separated bike lanes. Check out the full results here: https://www.samhibbins.com/safe-bike-network
