13.01.2022 I’m back and I’m so thrilled to be taking part in an amazing initiative during Mental Health week in October called Mental Moments, to entertain in a star-studded online TV show. I’ve joined forces with entertainment legends including Kamahl and Normie Rowe, Aussie icons like Ian Thorpe and dignitaries such as the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley A.C. Q.C. It’s important to understand that mental health can affect all of us and its OK to reach ...out for help. Personally, this past month has been an enormous struggle having been hit hard on a deep emotional level emanating from someone with a more powerful voice than mine challenging the key moral values I have always stood for, and all this done in front of their audience of millions worldwide. It sent me on a downhill spiral of mental trauma and distress, until I decided to reach out for help and take a stance. When something like this happens, you not only have the right to stand up for yourself, but you also have the responsibility on a greater level. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of love, support and backing from my peers including the giants of the industry right to the top, who I have idolised since childhood. Following the hurtful accusations, some people judged blindly with no concern for the truth. For me, that was the most challenging part for my own mental health, sending me down a slippery slope of anguish and heartbreak. You see, lies can disguise themselves as truth and when they're spoken through a giant megaphone, it makes it almost impossible for people to separate facts from malicious fiction. Eventually however, the truth always comes to light. There’s a famous quote by Winston Churchill, A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. Well, the pants are now on.... and so are the gloves. I have taken action and want to encourage others to do the same to deliver a powerful message that when someone has a bigger voice than you, it doesn't mean they can squash you, as long as your heart is pure & your voice is true. I’m not just doing this for myself. I’m doing this for everyone who has ever been stepped on, lied about, vilified, ridiculed and backed into a corner leaving them feeling powerless and alone. Always stand up for yourself and for the truth, regardless of who steps on it. Never give anyone permission to abuse you and harm your mental health. You are important and so is your truth... its the best vindication against slander, because it is the fundamental element they fear the most. #mentalhealthweek #mentalmoments #standupforwhatsright
