24.01.2022 MONDAY 11/5/20 Today we explored the Tickly Octopus story, This is a great story to role play gentle and kind play with our friends. We read the book together and then held it up for display next to the art table.... We looked at the octopus and talked about the colours, spots, eyes and mouth, and counted the legs. The children were given free choice on how they wanted to make their octopus. Children develop a range of skills and processes such as enquiry, enthusiasm and imagination. NQS 5.2.1 See more

This week the children have initiated role play puppy And vets together. Encourages communication and skills needed to negotiate roles in play. Great opportunity to talk about what dogs need to survive, how to touch a dog and always ask before touching a dog. ... Children have a strong sense of identity: Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect. NQS 3.2.3 The service cares for the environment and supports children to become environmentally responsible

18.01.2022 Friendships are forming We have a new child in our house learning the ropes, nothing is better when the older children enjoy helping out. Every morning we have morning tea together and sing our name songs and read stories together and have puppet time to songs. A great way to engage the children at such a young age is to aim to sit together with some food whilst we do this group activity

14.01.2022 And the ramp is complete!! We discovered today that we can make a slippery dip with it too for the younger ones Next week is road safety week after one of the children have been role playing roads with little people and cars, pretending that the people have to stop, look and listen before the car comes.

13.01.2022 Today we learnt how to make our own light box!! They are super easy to create and all materials from Bunnings Lining the box with tin foil for reflection. Using fairly lights that are battery operated. The children have been very interested in one of the children’s blue light that he brought in so this was a way to let everyone explore light and learn about how to make a light box. Light boxes and panels provide hours of open ended play and are a fantastic tool for enhancing sensory exploration as well as facilitate the development of motor skills, an understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts, social and emotional development, language and literally skills.

12.01.2022 Thankyou to one of our families for bringing in a box of silkworms. The children had fun learning about the life cycle today and learning how to be gentle with the silkworms. This will lead into further investigation next week through art, poems, learning about nature and how to look after animals with empathy and respect.

12.01.2022 You can use magnet play to help children increase their language skills by teaching them new magnet-related words, names, and shapes. Magnet play can also help children develop their coordination skills, increase their fine motor skills, and learn a variety of problem-solving skills. Today we went fishing for magnetic shapes, the idea that the children came up with was a game of hunting the kindy for anything else that’s magnetic. We found spoons, keys, cars and other magnetic pictures

03.01.2022 A spontaneous talk about rainbows and sunlight happened today when we found a rainbow on the ground I sent the children on an adventure to find ways to get rid of the rainbow, Sam tried hosing it with water, rubbing it with a lemon and putting his bike wheel on, Stanley tried his car. We had a chat how this wasn’t working so I asked the question how do we block the sun?? Love how clever they are and how this inspires their imagination and logical thinking
