25.01.2022 I'm really good at this "post my 6am walk pic at 8pm" thing. It was super foggy this morning and visibility was low. Which is kinda how my brain has felt for most of this year. ... Just foggy and short sighted. Business has boomed (which I'm very grateful for). But pandemics make for weird working conditions. And because I've been fully booked for many months of the year there has been no space to breathe or process what's going on. Anyone else feel like this too? It's like that moment when you sit down after a long day and you are suddenly hit with a wave of tired and feel like you might never get off the couch again. Anyway, big love to anyone trying to run their business through this strange year. Especially to anyone trying to kid wrangle at the same time. You are all amazing.

21.01.2022 What's the difference between just content, and a course? Well, quite a few things. Great structure (which we will cover here), along with support, facilitation, and a feedback cycle (which we'll be talking about at a later date.)... The thing is, you don't have to be a course creator, to know what makes a good course and a bad course. You simply draw from past experience. 21.01.2022 I've been doing "this" for a while now. The format of whatever "this" is has changed a bit over the years. Over 10 years ago my (now ex) husband and I started an online store selling war gaming miniatures and running big face to face events.... 9 years ago I started training for my Certificate IV in life coaching. I combined this with my day job experience of managing a team and building training, and started my own coaching business. And over the years, that coaching morphed into support business owners, supporting their business growth, and then showing them how to build training eventually opening (and then closing) our own Registered Training Organisation. Needless to say, lots has changed over the years. And in that time, I've learnt a hell of a lot about running a business Read the full blog "5 things I no longer believe about running my own business" here: https://www.samwinch.com.au/5-things-i-no-longer-believe-a/

20.01.2022 From the transcription of the last episode of my podcast " Here's your host sandwich, the course creator, not the lunch time food let's get started. " Even the transcription software thinks I'm a sandwich

19.01.2022 Great advice ;) Source unknown, but if you find it, let me know. It's awesome.

17.01.2022 I spend a lot (no really, A LOT) of time answering the question: "I want to make an online course / membership site. Which plugin should I use?" And while there is no easy answer, and your choice will depend on a whole heap of variables, I do have some favourites. Today we are talking about LearnDash.... 16.01.2022 This one is often a reminder to myself more than anything else. I know that if I wait to feel motivated then I'd never get anything done. I just have to start. ... It's like running. If I waited until I felt like going for a run, I would never go. Putting on my shoes and stepping out of the door is the hardest bit. But once I'm out, the rest just happens. Course Creation can be similar. If I wait to feel motivated, I might be waiting a long time to get started!!

16.01.2022 If you were all the awesome notes I wrote, and content I mapped out about my new visual models... where would you be? I vividly remember writing it all down, but I've searched every notepad and piece of paper I can find in the house, and can't find it. Am I going crazy?! ... (Shh all of you who are about to comment that I already am :P ) See more

15.01.2022 The latest episode of the Course Creation Bites podcast went live yesterday, and we are talking all about reviewing your course.

14.01.2022 I need someone to sit next to me today, and slap the back of my hand any time I lose focus or end up on social media... So much to do!!

11.01.2022 This is the face of someone who just got home from 5km worth of interval training. Which might not sound like a lot, but it's a big deal for me. Because this year, between covid, and school from home, and some awesome business growth, I put myself last. ... I gained almost 10kg, my fitness declined and I was running on almost no sleep with 2 toddlers. So I decided enough was enough... It's time to look after me again. It's hard to get started, but I know it's worth it in the long run.

06.01.2022 So, you've written a book now what? Don't get me wrong, writing a book in an amazing achievement (and definitely one that I can't claim), but what comes next? What if your readers love your book, your content and your concepts, but they want to learn more? What if they are looking for a deeper experience?... A companion course could be the perfect way to offer your readers more depth to a subject they are interested in learning about. It also gives you the opportunity to encourage implementation and support them along the way. Read the full blog article here: https://www.samwinch.com.au/how-to-turn-your-book-into-a-c/

05.01.2022 Is creating a course on your list of things to do this year? Or perhaps it's improving an existing course, or adding extra ones. Then make sure you come over and join us in "Content into Courses". ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/ContentIntoCourses

05.01.2022 Visiting the parents at their campsite out west. You don't need filters when the sky is this clear and blue by itself. Monday's are my "mumday", where I wrangle mini humans... while trying not to think about my to do list for the week ahead. ... How do you do Mondays?

05.01.2022 When working with clients to create a course, we start with the Minimum Viable Product (MVP), or in this case, a Minimum Viable Course. Good old Wikipedia tells me, "A minimum viable product is a version of a product with just enough features to satisfy early customers and provide feedback for future product development." I often see people building courses starting with the sprinkles. They are worried about the bits that go on top, but not the functional, solid bit that sit...s underneath.
