12.01.2022 Breathing is something I often take for granted. It happens anyway, right! With or without my conscious control I will stay alive without really trying. What I often forget though is the power of interacting with it, the power of helping it to slow down, the power of noticing it and being curious around it. A simple two minute moment of stopping and noticing your breath rising and falling can be enough to assist your stress response to turn down. Curiosity about breath can he...lp to engage your brain in a healthy and helpful way and assist it to recognise that in this moment you are safe. The easiest way to explore if breath work is helpful for you is to set yourself a challenge to try this twice a day for a few days and just notice what happens. 09.01.2022 This post was created as a timely reminder after hearing myself say in frustration, "Far out the weekend is over already and I have not stopped!". A gentle reminder to any one who needs this message: No one will plan your rest time for you! Rest time is an essential part of self-care but is often the first thing that is neglected, forgotten, dismissed or worst shamed out of the day. If you are like me, there is a comfort in being on the go. The challenge for me is learning t...o be with quiet, still and calm and to acknowledge that productive self-care cannot always be measured. Your house may be untidy, you may not have a gourmet meal ready for dinner (baked beans and avocado on toast is gourmet though right?), you may not have walked the dog today. However, you may notice that you have more energy to face the day or days ahead, you may notice that you sleep better, you may notice you have more patience or tolerance for the people in your life and you may notice that you have more kindness and compassion for yourself.
