11.01.2022 The hilarious play 'Keeping up Appearances' is now showing at Sandgate Theatre's new venue, Hawks Sporting Club, 120 Lemke Road, Taigum. Season starts 13th November . Don't Miss out!!!

09.01.2022 The stage play, ‘Keeping Up Appearances’, performed by Sandgate Theatre opens at Sandgate Hawks Sports Club (120 Lemke Road, Taigum QLD) on Friday, November 13th 2020 over two weekends with the final show on November 22nd. The specially written-for-the-stage script is based on the long running popular television show of the same name, and is written by the show’s creator, Roy Clarke. The show centres on Hyacinth Bucket, who insists that her surname is pronounced, 'Bouquet'. H...yacinth is an obsessive and determined snobbish middle-class woman who desperately and continually looks for opportunities to climb the social ladder by attempting to impress people and portray herself as more affluent than she actually is. Hampering her attempts to appear refined are her decidedly lower-class relatives, including her skin exposing, slobbish brother in law Onslow, her lascivious sister Rose and her senile father. The play is set in the local town hall, where the above characters are rehearsing a murder mystery. Emmet, the highly strung director and neighbour of Hyacinth is almost plotting to murder Hyacinth himself as she barrels around making peoples lives difficult, thus providing many comic interactions for the audience. Keeping Up Appearances is an enjoyable farce with our local cast portraying these larger than life characters in a fun and highly entertaining family-friendly performance. Director Chris Packman comments that the audience will love what the show has to offer, and particularly if you are a fan of the television show that you will have quite a few belly laughs at what eventuates between the characters. Evening shows at 7.30pm are on Friday 13th, Sat 14th, Fri 20th and Sat 21st November, with matinee performances at 2pm on Sun 15th & Sun 22nd November. Meals, drinks and refreshments are available at the venue. Tickets are available online at www.trybooking.com/BKPXD or call 0492 916 005 to secure your seats (Covid plan in place).
