23.01.2022 Cycling Without Age Yeppoon is ready to roll. With COVID safe training, planning and procedures in place, we are happy to say, it’s time to launch our communit...y project. This Sunday we will be launching our trishaw along the beachfront paths. We are taking the opportunity to let those who have contributed to this project, experience the joy of the ‘wind in their hair’ and the rewards of new connections. And WOW! We have so much gratitude for those who helped this happen... a big shout out to the Iwasaki Foundation who funded our two trishaws with such a generous grant (one trishaw is still on the way), Vinnies who backed this project with support and service from the beginning , the PCYC for their generous involvement and partnership, Livingstone Shire for supporting us, the Sailing Club, a multitude of individuals, and the passionate support and efforts of the foundation committee! We are also excited about the ‘Pay it Forward’ coffee initiative from Twig Coffee van and The Rocks, our route launch points. This volunteer project is about joy, kindness, connections, sharing stories and expressing gratitude for older persons in our community. With many of our seniors feeling isolated, we look forward to forming friendships, whilst enjoying a chat, cuppa and ride together along our beautiful coastline. See you on the pathways! See more

01.01.2022 Attention Farnborough Beach goers! Team Turtle CQ volunteers have discovered a turtle nest on Farnborough Beach north of Bangalee boat ramp, where vehicles ...are permitted on the beach. Council is asking the community to please avoid driving on the dry sand and only drive on the wet sand closer to the waterline until the end of March 2021. A reminder that Local Law No 4 restricts vehicles to within 50 metres of the boat ramp for launching and retrieval of boats only on all other beaches from Bangalee south to the Fitzroy River. Fines will be issued for offending drivers. Four species of endangered marine turtles nest along the Capricorn Coast beaches. You can help give the next generation a fighting chance by following these steps: Report turtle tracks or nest sightings to Fitzroy Basin Association https://www.fba.org.au/marine-turtle-season-report-a-sight/ Keep clear of nests Don't use torches, lamps or flash photography Turtles dig the dark!
