10.01.2022 Coronavirus Update The coronavirus situation is rapidly evolving. Earlier today, the Prime Minister announced that, from tomorrow, non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people will not be permitted. Schools, universities and childcare facilities are exempt, as are shops, health services and public transport. Thousands of businesses will be negatively affected by the threshold being lowered in this way, especially event-based businesses. And the economic impact of more cancelled events, functions and festivals will be substantial. The National Cabinet will meet again on Friday to make and amend any further restrictions, and we have to trust that they will balance job security with community safety.

07.01.2022 From all of us at Sandra Bolton Migration, we wish you safe and happy celebrations today for Australia Day. Those that had their citizenship ceremonies today, a big congratulations!! Enjoy this lovely long weekend and we will be back in the office Tuesday morning.

01.01.2022 AAT changes to hearings and conferences Temporary changes to hearings and conferences have been announced by the AAT Temporary arrangements will be in place at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) from Friday 20 March 2020.... The AAT will temporarily cease ‘in person’ hearings, conferences and other events at its registries and instead aim, where possible, to deal with the cases by telephone or video link. Impacted parties will be contacted to discuss alternative arrangements. AAT registries continue to operate at this time and can be contact through the online services, by email or by telephone. The staff remain available to support hearings and other scheduled events, answer enquiries, process applications and deliver other services. Like all courts and tribunals, indeed all of Australia, the AAT's response to the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic is designed to manage health risks and to slow the spread of disease, while continuing to operate as effectively as possible. The AAT was guided by Australian and State/Territory Government protocols, and the advice of health experts. The AAT is conscious of the number of messages about COVID-19 that Australians are receiving from numerous sources and do not want to add to that burden with broad information. Please monitor the AAT website for further updates on the inevitable changes that will need to be made to its operations as the situation evolves.
