25.01.2022 Some partners avoid conflict because they think theyre keeping the peace. Others stop talking because they fear what might happen after the conversation starts.... According to Dr. John Gottman, conflict-avoidant couples are at greater risk of drifting apart with zero interdependence over time, and thus being left with a [relationship] consisting of two parallel lives, never touching. Don't let unspoken issues and irritants add up until the tension will hit a breaking point. Instead, try using these phrases to break the silence in your relationship: https://bit.ly/2XdhlKz

20.01.2022 Your vagus nerve, also known as the 10th cranial nerve, is one of your most important nerves in the body. It is also the longest nerve in your autonomic nervous... system that extends from your brain stem through your neck into your chest and abdomen. While we refer to them together as the vagus nerve, there are actually two vagus nerves, one on the left and one on the right. Vagus is latin for wandering, which appropriately describes the nerve. Your vagus nerve is critical for many functions of our physiology. It connects our brain to our gut. It carries important sensory and motor information. Our vagus nerve supplies innervation to our major blood vessels, heart, lungs, airways, stomach, esophagus, and intestines. It helps to regulate our heart rate, digestion, blood pressure, sweating, and speech, among other areas of your health. By controlling the muscles of your throat and voice box, it plays an important role of speaking and eating. It also helps your entire gastrointestinal tract working together, regulating your heart rate, and connecting your brain to the rest of your body. . . #neuroscience

14.01.2022 May 26, is the National Day of Healing and the start of National Reconciliation Week. Today we remember the past policies of forced child removal and reflect on... the sad and painful history of the Stolen Generations. We acknowledge the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially those adversely affected by the policies of the Stolen Generation and those who never made it home. #NRW2020 | #WalkingTogether2020

10.01.2022 When the situation between you and your child is getting more and more intense, and you become aware of your own rising levels of muscle tension, try one of the...se... My child, you mean so much to me and I love you so much, I will not fight with you. I imagine it is hard to be a kid. I am trying really, really hard to understand what you are telling me. I want to believe you. Then, with a slight withdrawal (do not leave their presence) silently gaze into their eyes with the most loving, intentional facial expression you can muster. Maintain your self-regulation no matter how they behave or what they say. Resist the temptation to talk too much. Stay small, soft, and supporting. Make a space for them and wait for them to fill it with their voice, with their agency.

09.01.2022 This is important to share - it is a very common theme in my conversations with people at the moment.

02.01.2022 This a great explanation of an issue I see often. Taking Benzos for anxiety results in higher anxiety ... a bit like using a loan shark to pay off a credit card resulting in instant gratification followed by terrible interest rates and even more financial stress. Love the motto Skills before Pills
