25.01.2022 In Armadale for the opening of five big murals. If you are around drop by the Jull Street mall. All the festivities are on 4 till 6. This is the plan. . . . Lets see what the final thing looks like.

25.01.2022 Well it was going well until. . . . Tim likes to push the boundaries of what can be done with sand. Today after attempting a particularly brave undercut he came inside to say "could you come and take a photo of what Ive done?" And when I got out there his three little penguins had fallen over. . . . ... Starting again tomorrow.

23.01.2022 We are down in Bunbury creating a sculpture for Tuesday's activities. If course it has a dolphin and mermaid theme! More to come!

23.01.2022 A little clip to show you how its done thanks to ABC Kimberley and some great folk from Broome

22.01.2022 Five hours. . . . . Tim was pleased. I love the look on the mouses face.

22.01.2022 We are working on three sculptures at Curtin University at the moment. The first is a mermaid and dolphins at Jolley Court. Next is one in the library and then the biggy outside the Architecture building - Sanditecture! We are holding three have a go sessions if anyone is around - this Wed 11-2 Thursday 10-1 (Jolley Court) and next week on Wed 11-2.(Alcoa Court) Everyone welcome - you dont have to be a student! So come and say hi!

22.01.2022 Tim has finished the feature piece for Sanditecture at Curtin and this week the students get their turn. The piece is entitled "The Last Scramble". It depicts a mass of climate (or other) refugees trying to climb the man made structures of our world to reach the last "apple". Sigh. . . . .

22.01.2022 Has some issues with the sand in Bunbury so lost the top third on the second day, but Tim managed to rescue it. The mermaid just had to swim up not down! Dress ups were a hit - especially for the sculptor who makes a captivating mermaid.

21.01.2022 Tim started his summer holiday sandsculpture out the front of our house today. He likes this sculpture since there is no commission so he can make a political statement if he wants. The statement this year? You will have to wait and see. . . Come by and have a look!

21.01.2022 A bit of a tricky start to this one - a miscommunication meant it was initially built facing the wrong way and when we tried to rebuild it - the top fell off! Argh! But thanks to some early starts and late finishes we are back on track. ... Should be finished by Sunday.

20.01.2022 Tim's four gigs at Curtin are the biggest ones he does all year. This week he starts in the library, and next week is the famous "Sanditecture" where a group of interior architecture students have to create a sculpture in groups of four representing a famous building in some way. While they are deciding on their designs he creates a piece outside the Architecture building. And then - Holi Festival.... I have attached some images from previous years. It is great to come and have a look. There is a have a go day on Tuesday February 25th. The student's work will be finished on the afternoon of March 4th and available for viewing for a week or so after that. Tim's exhibition piece and the smaller sculpture in the library will still be up then too The gallery has great exhibitions, the coffee shop is fantastic. Make a day of it

20.01.2022 End of day one at the Wind On Water Festival in Geraldton. Couldnt really imagine an octopus driving a digger until now. . .

19.01.2022 Tim is doing three sculptures at Curtin. One of a mermaid and a dolphin for O week. She has the sweetest face. One of a Harry Potter inspired book scene in the library. ... . . . And the last one. . . Well the last one fell over this morning after a hard day of carving yesterday. I have included a photo of what it looked like before and after the disaster. Took him two cups of tea to get over it.

17.01.2022 Work started early at the Autumn Festival at the Riverside Gardens in Bayswater this morning - 6.30am in fact! Tim is basically aiming to do a sculpture that would normally take a day and a half in one day - he has until 7pm to finish. Hes pleased with the progress. The Festival starts at 2, with a movie at 7.... Come and say hi!

15.01.2022 A few people have asked what happens to the sculptures once Tim has finished. . . This is our favourite method of deconstruction!

15.01.2022 After seeing lots of inspiring sand sculptures in Europe Tim is happy to be working on his own again - this time at Little Creatures. Can you believe they are turning 18? Drop in and say hi over the weekend. Hell be finished on Sunday afternoon.

15.01.2022 And its finished. We wonder who will collect the most pearls - the diver or the octopus? Lovely to have both tourists and locals coming to have a look. We love Broome!

14.01.2022 Tim usually gets a few days to create a sculpture but this morning he had to produce something in two hours for the Mosman Park Community Fair - so he went with a quokka and a snail! Why? An unlikely friendship but they love each other! Showing the best of friends can be found anywhere. ... We have lessons all afternoon - drop in 12 - 5

14.01.2022 Countdown To Christmas at Curtin University. These first year engineering elves learning the difference between theory and practice. . . .

12.01.2022 End of day one at the Wind On Water Festival in Geraldton. Couldn't really imagine an octopus driving a digger until now. . .

12.01.2022 Tim spent the weekend at the Waroona Show. Held for only one day on Saturday it is the biggest one day agricultural show in Australia. And what a lovely time he had. People were so friendly, they took care of every thing he needed ("another cup of tea Tim?") and he comes back full of stories of the lovely families he met. Go Waroona!

12.01.2022 Do you want to learn how to make your own sand sculpture masterpiece? Shani and Tim will be running a free lesson this Sunday from 10am until 12noon. You must book though. Text Shani on 0417941991.

11.01.2022 We just finished a great sculpture at Curtin University's Day Of The Dead Festival. Such a great theme and such great people to work for. And so many skeletons!

10.01.2022 Starting a few days of sculpting down in Albany for their Australia Day festivities. Tim is working with a local indigenous artist to add some colour to this one - it will be interesting. Meanwhile the poundup is underway. Yarrick and Irene are the masters of it!.... If you are down South and not scared of the rain come down for lessons Wed Thur Fri 10-12 then 1-3.

10.01.2022 Finished! And enjoying a day off before we head home.

09.01.2022 Tim with the biggest cut out he has ever attempted. Come and see the work in progress. Outside 16 Livingstone Street Beaconsfield, the Beard Street side.... Hes happy!

09.01.2022 We are away on a singing trip in Europe at the moment. But we managed to find this incredible garden of sandsculptures. Inspiration for Tim for years to come!

07.01.2022 Curtin is out favourite gig of the year. Three sculptures and lessons with 50 keen interior architecture students. Tims sculpture was vandalised just as he finished but he managed to add a little fat man eating and it saved the day. (Do you see the golden arches?) But phew it wears us out - and Wagin Woolorama is next.!

06.01.2022 Tim Scarlett and Britta recently had a wonderful trip to Broome, completing a sculpture outside Streeters Jetty. The theme was Connection and Tim took a rather unusual take . . . . carving a group of dogs all sniffing each other before they made friends. Have a watch of the attached video to hear (and see) more about it!

06.01.2022 Every Christmas Tim does a sand sculpture out the front of our house. It is a kind of less carbon intense alternative for people to visiting Christmas lights. S...tage one happened today - the pound up. Because he is not getting paid he gets to make a bit of a statement. Not telling what it is this year!

05.01.2022 Tim is still at Curtin. Hes finished the sculpture in the coolness of the library and is now in the heat outside the Architecture building. His library sculpture is a reaction to the recent bush fires, and climate change generally. The desperate animals trying to fight the fire with only drops of water and a broken tap represent not only the limited resources available for the more severe weather events we face, but our totally inadequate response to climate change generally. You can see why Curtin is his favourite gig - he gets to say something... .

05.01.2022 Just realised I didnt post a photo of the final Creatures sculpture. So here it is. . .

05.01.2022 Tim has finished the feature piece for Sanditecture at Curtin and this week the student's get their turn. The piece is entitled "The Last Scramble". It depicts a mass of climate (or other) refugees trying to climb the man made structures of our world to reach the last "apple". Sigh. . . . .

05.01.2022 Wagin Woolorama was fun.. . Lots of lovely people, and lots and lots of blunstone boots. . . Tim was inspired by the sheep!

05.01.2022 Many people ask what happens to the sandsculptures once we have finished. Our favourite thing to do is knock them down!

05.01.2022 Albany piece done and dusted. Changeable weather. Brilliant location. First ever artist collaboration. Biggest competition ever. No one knocked it over. Juries still out on the colour. . .

04.01.2022 Tim is getting excited about his favourite gig of the year. First he gets to create a sculpture in the library at Curtin University, then another one outside for O week. After that he works with the interior architecture students to create their own masterpieces before sculpting a major piece outside the architecture building. He has something interesting up his sleeve for that one. . . And had been practising out the front. If you are near Curtin drop in and say hi. And ...you can have a go - Wednesday the 20th between 11am and 2pm or Wednesday the 27th between 11am and 2pm. Might see you there. . .

04.01.2022 We just completed a great week at Kensington Primary School as part of their Artist in Residence Program. The sculpture is titled "Friends Stronger Together". Tim carved while I taught some basics to each class. The kids were so keen we left the tools and buckets there for them to have a go during these last few weeks at school. And we are returning for a "deconstruction" ceremony on the lay day of school - we just cant decide if the year sixes or the teachers get to pull it down!

03.01.2022 We are up in Broome at the moment. Tim is creating a sculpture of a pearl diver and an octopus fighting over some pearls. Hes loving working with the pindan!

02.01.2022 Its finished! Drop in and have a look. For those who dont know IPCC stands for its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Poor penguins. . . .

02.01.2022 Yippee- its still standing! Despite lots of cups of tea Tim made some good progress today - he said it was faster doing it for the second time! Anyone want to guess what the penguin is reading?

01.01.2022 We just finished a great sculpture at Curtin Universitys Day Of The Dead Festival. Such a great theme and such great people to work for. And so many skeletons!

01.01.2022 We are in Geraldton for their Wind on Water Festival. This will be one of the tallest sculptures Tim has done with plans for a lighthouse, seagulls and waves, all with a Gero twist. Lots of cut outs and extra blocks behind the main sculpture. He has been doing so much carving lately that his eye (and hand) is really "in". I think this will be a beauty. ... Stay tuned.
