25.01.2022 The History Surrounding Collins Court Michael Jeremiah Collins also known as Micky or MJ, an Irishman arrived in Nanango in the 1870’s. He was responsible for the construction of many significant buildings including Tara’s Hall, Post Office Hotel (no longer present) and the magnificent St. Patrick’s Convent (since demolished) amongst other numerous buildings and houses, despite being an unqualified builder. Tara’s Hall built in 1912, a much loved venue hosting many different... events, including dances, debutante balls, boxing tournaments, movies & plays and many more. It eventually became the home of the Nanango RSL and still remains a part of the RSL today. Many of his descendants still live locally!
