20.01.2022 I believe we need an easy way for all South Australians to contribute toward protecting and enhancing our greatest asset - our magnificent Adelaide Park Lands. In the next few weeks, I will ask my Council to establish an Adelaide Park Lands Foundation to ensure our Adelaide Park Lands all 760 hectares become an even better space for the people of our state. The Adelaide Park Lands are for all South Australians yet the entire upkeep and improvements are paid for by a tiny... portion of our state’s population the 26,000 ratepayers of the City of Adelaide. The ratepayer contribution to the Park Lands will continue but this is an opportunity for more of us who love and use the Park Lands to play our part. Collectively, we all should help protect and enhance the Park Lands for future generations of South Australians.

03.01.2022 If the events of the past 12 months have taught us anything, it’s that we need to do things differently. We need to shake up the status quo and be brave in our decision making. 68 Councils for a population of 1.7 million is an inefficient use of ratepayers money and resources. In my opinion, we need to reduce duplication and streamline services to achieve better outcomes for our communities.

02.01.2022 The City of Adelaide is taking a measured and rational approach to our finances. We have taken a deep dive into our asset base and we need to make our assets work harder for us. We need to make sure we are getting maximum return for our city.

01.01.2022 I welcome the State Government’s Future Directions for Homelessness announcement. The City of Adelaide is a major partner of the Adelaide Zero Project, dedicated to working towards ending street homelessness in Adelaide. Everyone should have access to a safe place to live and I look forward to working with Minister Hon Michelle Lensink MLC on this important work.

01.01.2022 So glad I was able to attend the launch of the The Main Gallery - Contemporary Artspace, the first Turkish art gallery in Australia, before the lockdown last week. We are all enriched by having more art and culture in our city.
