25.01.2022 Name: Amy Role: Secretary Why did I join the PAG?: I joined the PAG in my first year as a kinder mum, just so that I could be a little bit more involved with the kinder. I didn’t become secretary straight away, but have now been doing it for 3 years and love the friendships I’ve made. ... Role description: My role as a secretary is fairly easy, I organise and attend the monthly meeting, sort out the agenda, minutes, and reports for those meetings, and check the mailbox regularly. There are a few other ad-hoc tasks, but that is the bulk of it. What have I gotten out of being on PAG?: Mainly, great friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. I have also gotten a lot of experience and learned lots of new things. Meetings are a great monthly meet up and it’s always nice to get out of the house for a little bit. Being on the PAG is fun and a great opportunity. If you would like to know more about the secretary role, please feel free to contact the kinder and I will happily discuss it with you further.

25.01.2022 Name: Jodie Role: Fundraising Co-ordinator Why did I join the PAG? I first joined PAG when my eldest daughter was in 3yo kinder (four years ago). I initially joined the PAG make new friends, meet like-minded parents and to be involved in the beautiful Montrose community. I have made some amazing friends, and had many laughs along the way! I love ‘giving back’ to the community. This is a committee where we can really make a difference!... Role Description: The role of the Fundraising Officer is to work with a team to raise funds for Sarah Court Preschool, so they can purchase resources, improve their building and grounds and help enrich the learning environment and opportunities for the children. Last year, the Preschool purchased things like African drums, uniform cupboards, puzzles, water play activities, wheelbarrows, prams, microscopes, iPads and lots of other things that our amazing educators may have requested along the way! This year, the fundraising aspect of our PAG has been very low key, with the exception of our Easter Family Fun day, which was a great community event, whilst raising funds for the preschool. On a ‘normal’ year, we do things like chocolate drives, Easter Family Fun Days, Bunnings Sausage sizzles and Trivia nights. What have I gotten out of being on PAG? I have loved learning about how the preschool runs, as well as getting to know our amazing educators better. I’ve learnt lots of new skills, worked in awesome teams and have made great friends along the way. I loved getting out of the toddler ‘fog’ and putting my skills to good use, to help an amazing kinder! I would highly recommend it!!!

24.01.2022 Name: Jen Role: Treasurer Why did I join the PAG? I joined PAG when my daughter started kinder at Sarah Court. I didn’t know many other parents and I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet new people. I also love contributing to communities and supporting them to be the best they can be. Sarah Court has amazing educators and it’s great being able to work alongside and support them in offering our children invaluable learning experiences.... Role Description: My role as the treasurer is fun, interesting and hands on. I support the PAG in collecting, counting and cross checking any money that comes into the kinder for fundraising or kinder events. This may involve monthly visits to the bank or using the online banking. I attend fundraising events and support them in tallying money raised. I report back to the PAG on money spent and received each month and occasionally support teachers in purchasing items for the kinder. The role sounds a lot but I would only spend an hour each month on the regular tasks. What have I gotten out of being on PAG?: I have really enjoyed getting to be a part of a group full of other passionate and community minded parents. Meetings are fun and I always have a good laugh. I also now have a group of parents whom I can chat to about other areas of my life like where to get the best local take away and what size uniforms for my daughter starting primary school. If you think you might like the opportunity to be involved in PAG next year and the treasurers role interests you, feel free to contact the kinder and we can chat more to you about it! We would love to have you onboard!

22.01.2022 Name: Toddy Role: Maintenance Why did I join the PAG?: I just wanted to put my hand up and have a bit more input into my children's education. Being a Dad you can tend to miss out on a bit of stuff so it's nice to spend the odd weekend down at the kinder with the kids making it a better place.... Role Description: The role of maintenance means you become Mr or Mrs Fix it! Its a great role as you can really make a difference to the kinder. This year we have put up some brush fence, installed a new boat for the kids to play in and just recently had the amazing new front fence installed. Ive enjoyed my time this year, nice to see the kids enjoying the new things. Ideally I would have coordinated some working bee's this year for general clean ups and gardening however due to the years restrictions this was not possible. What have I gotten out of being on PAG?: I've gotten to meet a lot of lovely parents who also like to have input into their children's education. It’s been really fun and rewarding to see some projects change the kinder. I really want more Dads to get involved. It doesn't take up very much time and your kids really enjoy it, hanging out with you whilst doing a little bit of work. Let's get some more Dads on board!

19.01.2022 To all parents at the kinder next year: We still have the position of treasurer vacant for our PAG (parent advisory group). If this position seems too overwhelming but you would be happy to share the role with another parent, then please reach out to us. You will have lots of support and we would love to have you on board!

17.01.2022 Name: Chelsey Role: Wellbeing Officer Why did I join the PAG? I first joined PAG when my oldest son was in 3yo kinder (seven years ago). I’m not from this area, and after being in baby/toddler land for several years, I was ready to put my brain back to work and get to know my local community. I wanted to contribute and give back and this opportunity seemed like the perfect first step. It also gave me a chance to get to know the wonderful educators and parents who, in time, be...came really great friends. Role Description: If health, wellbeing and physical activity is important to you, think about putting your hand up for Wellbeing Officer. The role is super flexible and you have a lot of freedom to make it what you want it to be. Activity ideas include sharing healthy recipes tips or inspiration to help with parent and child wellbeing. In a ‘normal’ year, you get the fun job of organising a ‘ride, walk or scoot’ week for kinder, where families are encouraged to leave their cars behind and ‘active travel’ to school. What have I gotten out of being on PAG? Confidence, connection, friendship and fun. Being a part of PAG was my foray into feeling and being more connected to the kinder, and local community. I have made life-long friends through my experience, I developed skills that have helped me in my paid work, and I also feel good knowing I’m contributing to helping our beautiful kinder be the best it can be. Plus, there are some great laughs along the way. If you’re even sort of considering being involved, I recommend you put your hand up you won’t regret it!

07.01.2022 Name: Leah Role: Enrolment Liason Officer Why did I join the PAG?: After being a Stay at Home mum I really wanted to connect more with the community and what better way than through my kids kinder. I’ve made some wonderful friends and have really enjoyed learning about the runnings of the kinder, getting to know the teachers and feeling like I’ve made a difference. ... Role Description: In my role I liaise with Yarra Ranges Kinders Inc regarding onsite enrolment enquiries; organising preschool uniforms; and organising and co-ordinating an annual open day, as well as meeting prospective families at the kindergarten (although this didn’t occur in 2020, I look forward to organising this in 2021! ). What have I gotten out of being on PAG?: I have gained a real sense of belonging and some lovely friendships. I am looking forward to being part of this wonderful community again in 2021! I highly recommend putting your hand up to be involved in this very fulfilling committee!

05.01.2022 Hi Everyone! What a busy term we are all having! Most of you would have noticed our new fence is well on its way to being complete. With just some finishing touches left. Massive thankyou to Nathan from Precision Propellers Australia who designed and cut out all of our beautiful panels. These will rust over time and blend in with our landscape. We do ask to not let your children sit on the fence as it can be damaged if little feet climb it. https://www.facebook.com/Precision-Propellers-Australia-1032495353561622/

04.01.2022 To our beautiful kinder community - an update from the Parent Advisory Group (PAG): If your child is enrolled in 4yo kinder for 2021, you may have received an email from YRKI with an update on enrolments, which may have caused some confusion. We want to assure you that plans continue to be in place to provide two 4yo classes in 2021. For those families awaiting confirmation for 3yo kinder, these will be coming out in the next few weeks. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more information. Thanks for your patience and we look forward to seeing you at Sarah Court in 2021.

03.01.2022 Name: Kelly Role: Publicity Officer Why did I join the PAG? ... I joined PAG last year because we were new to the area, and I wanted to form relationships with other parents within the community. I also wanted to be actively involved in my kids kinder lives. My position within the PAG ticked both of those boxes. Role Description: My role as publicity officer was actually a little different to what I expected it to be. Naively I thought I was just going to be doing fb posts but my role also included updating the website, writing newsletters and designing the messages for some of the real estate boards we use for advertising. I enjoyed navigating my way through it all. It was really good to exercise my brain after being submerged in the throes of mum life for years. What have I gotten out of being on PAG? I have learned so much about the ins and outs of how the kinder is run, as well as developing new skills using a computer. I have really enjoyed my time on the PAG and have formed friendships with some truly beautiful people. I would certainly implore your to put your hand up to join in next year. It truly feels rewarding to help contribute to your child’s kinder community.
