25.01.2022 On this special day...in this crazy year...I can truly say that I have never been more thankful to be living in the state of NSW under your leadership. Have a top day Gladys Berejiklian! Melissa McIntosh MP... Fiona Martin MP See more

25.01.2022 HAWKESBURY VISITOR CENTRE RE-OPENING It was a gorgeous afternoon to unveil the newly renovated Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre with the Mayor of Hawkesbury and some well known local Hawkesbury advocates. Seeing our completed tourism campaign ‘Hawkesbury: the river’s just the beginning’ as a main feature as you walk in the door was just brilliant. ... As many know, I am a massive advocate for tourism, founding both the Back to Bilpin and Meet Me At The Blue Mtns tourism campaigns. It was also a great opportunity to grab lunch from Josephine and Matt, who own and run Valleyway cafe next door. Check out my pic of them with the Mayor at my group #ShopSmall, which now has over 11,000 members! To join #ShopSmall and be part of the biggest community based movement to support small business that this area has ever seen, click here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/209220260418881/?ref=share PS: While masks were not worn for this photo, we did wear them, as well as follow all social distancing requirements during the event.

24.01.2022 Happy Birthday to a true champion of conservative values.

The Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Government’s Economic Recovery Plan will: Support our region by creating jobs; Invest in local infrastructure; and Guarantee essential services. 20.01.2022 ENOUGH OF CYBER BULLYING Erin Molan, daughter of Senator Jim Molan, absolutely nails it with these comments. I urge you to take a listen. It is powerful stuff. ... There are multiple polticial forums across this electorate of Macquarie alone, that allow and encourage the most vile and putrid comments daily, not just about me, but also about other locally elected representatives (usually against Liberals). Right now, I have just finished a 12 month interim AVO against a resident for consistent online abuse (and stalking), that even went as far as targeting my children. It is not ok. But you know what is worse? Those elected on the other side of politics who see it, know about it, sometimes particpate in it, but who mostly turn a blind eye to it, because it appears that trying to damage the reputation of their counterpart seems to be helpful to them. It is time to stop and let policy, not personality, dictate our political discourse.

20.01.2022 TODAY MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE GOSPERS MOUNTAIN FIRE IGNITED So I thought it fitting to pay tribute to every volunteer in the RFS and every volunteer in our community, who pitched in to see this Beast that defined our summer of 2019/2020 overcome. While I could thank thousands of people, I decided to do a shoutout to this amazing guy who usually goes under the radar...CHRIS GARLICK, the main admin of the NSW RFS - Hawkesbury District Facebook and Instagram pages. ... He and the other admins were the number one local source keeping us informed EVERY SINGLE DAY! It wasn’t just the updates, but it was also the raw human stories and devastatingly sad dramatic pictures posted, that built a sense of trust and community spirit. This picture was taken the day I met Chris, on 22 December 2019, after the most horrendous night of fires the evening before. I was doing a shift with Hawkesbury Communications Rural Fire Brigade and he was as at Hawkesbury Rfs Firecontrol as the ‘Public Liaison Officer’. That day actually inspired me enough to join the Communications brigade permanently and I just compelted my second shift last weekend! Thank you will never be enough to everyone involved, but we do need to keep saying so at every chance we get, because what Chris and many others did over last summer in the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains, literally saved countless lives. So again, THANK YOU! RFS Blue Mountains District

18.01.2022 WOMEN OF WESTERN SYDNEY ARE RESILIENT I was privileged to attend a virtual roundtable hosted by the Minister for Women Marise Payne today, alongside some truly intelligent, community-minded, entrepreneurial and passionate women from across Western Sydney, where we discussed Women’s Economic Security and Leadership. During the roundtable, I informed the Minister of the feedback I have been receiving as the founder of #ShopSmall - a community of almost 12,000 small business mem...bers across our region. COVID-19 has certainly thrown up some challenges, but I’ve been amazed how many women business owners quickly and confidently adapted their business models and worked within their communities to rebound from the COVID-19 crisis. 15.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY Today at 11am, we pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many as we mark the end of the First World War. It is also an extra special day for me, as my son Max was born on this day: on the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year at 11.11am at Hawkesbury District Health Service. ... The Hawkesbury Gazette turned up just after he was born with this beautiful red poppy and took this amazing picture to capture the moment and it is one that I will cherish forever. Max’s birth is also very special to his grandfather, who has served for Australia in the Iraq, East Timor, Somalia and Afghanistan conflicts. Thank you to all the men and women throughout the years who have given their time or ultimately, their life, in the name of freedom and democracy. It is their efforts that have allowed babies just like Max to be born into a free and prosperous Australia.

10.01.2022 WORLD TOURISM DAY! What a top day to be out and about in the magestic Blue Mountains, showcasing one of Australia’s most amazing tourism assets! Tourism is part of the lifeblood of the Blue Mountains AND the Hawkesbury and from natural wonders to built experiences, our region has so much to offer. Tourism also generates many jobs and significantly boosts our local economy. ... Today, being World Tourism Day, I visited a number of key sites, including the fabulous VIC (Visitor Information Centre) at Glenbrook, the gateway to the Blue Mountains! It's certainly hard to miss. This VIC was funded by the federal government some years ago and it's exactly the type of investment we need. With Round 5 of the BBRF just around the corner and an announcement today by PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) regarding the importance of tourism, I'll be working hard make sure our region gets it's fair share - including continuing my fight for a new VIC in Bilpin! Check out some of the fantastic spots I stopped in at today: Glenbrook Visitors Information Centre Oricafe Springwood Six Foot Track, Blue Mtns Explorers Tree Katoomba The Lolly Bug And keep following my local tourism campaigns: Meet Me At The Blue Mtns Back to Bilpin ... 10.01.2022 I am beyond proud to now officially be a member of the amazing Hawkesbury Communications Rural Fire Brigade. What these champions did during last Summer’s bush fire season was legendary! I am so very humbled to now have these local heroes teach me all they know about RFS radio operations. (Excuse my little step to the left in this pic. I was practicing my best social distancing! Oh and hopefully my new uniform arrives soon!) ... NSW RFS - Hawkesbury District

06.01.2022 HAWKESBURY LOCAL IS NSW YOUNG AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEE! A huge congratulations goes to 5th generation Hawkesbury twin Joe Bennett who was recently a NSW finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards! Joe, along with his brother Tom Bennett, recently founded the charity Foster the Future, after discovering that an alarming 75% of foster kids don't graduate high school. ... Deeply disturbed by this statistic, Joe and Tom decided to do whatever they could to help, so they established an educational support system for kids in out of home care. To date, their hard work has provided 40 "one on one" tutors to foster kids throughout NSW. Joe and Tom spend plenty of time finding tutors to volunteer their time and match them perfectly to the kids in need. Already, the kids involved are feeling more confident in their learning and focussing towards year 12 and onto TAFE or University. Their carers have told the boys that they have found an immediate improvement just because of the more direct access to learning that their charity has provided. What an amazing result. It was therefore so inspiring to see Joe recognised for his (and Tom’s) commitment by being nominated as a finalist for the NSW Young Australian of the Year. He is pictured here with the Governor of New South Wales at his recognition ceremony last week at Luna Park Sydney. Although he wasn't the eventual winner, the nomination was a lovely reward for their passion and commitment to help others. Joe and Tom are also Matt's nephews so we are extra proud of this wonderful achievement for the Bennett family. 05.01.2022 THIS announcement today Like all sectors of the economy, the #COVID19 pandemic is having an impact on Australia’s fuel industry. The events of 2020 have reminded us that we cannot be complacent. We need a sovereign fuel supply to shield us from potential shocks in the future. Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Personally, I have had many people raise this with me as a vital issue in the past. Protecting Australia’s future in this way is absolutely critical. ... https://www.pm.gov.au/med/boosting-australias-fuel-security

04.01.2022 A SUNDAY FOLLOWING THE BURRALOW Each weekend I make sure I get the kids out for a walk in the Hawkesbury or Blue Mountains. We get away from phones, laptops and ipads and explore the beauty that is so close to home. ... Today, we started at Crago Observatory in Bowen Mountain, NSW. and walked the Burralow Fire Trail past the fantastically named Devils Hole Creek to Tabaraga Rill. Our afternoon was a quick trip to Grose Vale along the Cabbage Tree to my absolute favourite lookout overlooking the junction of Burralow Creek and the Grose River. The waters were flowing after the current rains with the waterfalls and rapids in full view. Much to the disappointment of Max, no black panthers were seen. However, it was the perfect opportunity to educate him about the geological history of the region including sandstone, shale, basalt and the dramatic landscapes formed from volcanic activity millions of years ago. After the year we have had, there has never been a better time to reconnect with nature, spend precious time with family, stay away from the crowds and appreciate the raw beauty in our own backyard. 03.01.2022 What a top day to be with Mayor of Hawkesbury Patrick Conolly and my lovely friend Linda Strickland, as Pat announces that Hawkesbury's Helping Hands is his chosen charity for the 2020 Mayoral Christmas Appeal! You do so much amazing work for our community Linda. You truly deserve this!

03.01.2022 NATIONAL HEADSPACE DAY We know 2020 has made for an anxious time, particularly for young people. COVID-19 has caused disruptions to school, work, home and university . ... This headspace Day is a chance for us all to pause, take a step back and reflect on our mental health. Remember, it’s OK not to be OK. It’s also an important opportunity to acknowledge the work of Headspace Katoomba and the team at Wentworth Healthcare. The Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Government has delivered record funding for youth mental health services, including the 2019 commitment to open a headspace at Katoomba, which is already up and running! Now, our focus is a headspace in the Hawkesbury and next week, I’ll be raising a motion in Council which will look at kick starting this very process. I’ll keep you all updated as we go. If you need support, you can find more information from headspace here: bit.ly/35TGr6f

02.01.2022 "SCOMO & AFP SAVED MY LIFE" A much needed good news story for a rainy Sunday. The Daily Telegraph is reporting the story of Cheryl Ferguson who was seriously injured whilst bush walking in Kurnell. She suffered a compound fracture and a severed artery after falling on rocks. ... Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and his team were just 100m away inspecting a new art installation in his local electorate of Cook. They immediately ran over, called NSW Ambulance and began assisting Mrs Ferguson and her husband. Whilst Australian Federal Police tended to her wound, Mrs Ferguson told the Telegraph that she became aware of the presence of another person behind her. I didn’t see his face at first, but I felt a beautiful aura. Just a sense of compassion and kindness. He crouched down. He had that little half-smile. We just chatted. Just distracting chat as we waited for the ambulance. It was when he was quiet that I felt his compassion. I’m not one of his voters. I’m a bit of a leftie. I didn’t vote for him last time. I think I will now. Not because of this so much, but I have been very impressed at how he’s led the country though this terrible coronavirus pandemic. My anaesthetist told me: ‘ScoMo saved your life’ and that I would have bled to death, she said. We were in the right place at the right time and able to give Cheryl and Barry immediate first aid support and also comfort as they waited for the paramedics to arrive, Mr Morrison said. Thanks are due most of all to the great work of the AFP officers who were on the scene and provided outstanding care". The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service rangers also assisted on site. Hearing this story makes me immensely proud of our PM, not just because he is a good person who has done a good deed, but because Mrs Ferguson has gone public to tell us all that it is not just her immediate experience with the PM that has changed her, but it is the entirety of the way he has handled the pandemic response for our nation. To me, it proves that we are all much safer in Prime Minster Morrison's hands; not just now, but well into the future as we navigate our long journey to recovery. I wish Mrs Ferguson well for a speedy recovery. Full story available at: https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//b02769b890bfee7c20cf621
