18.01.2022 September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and as someone who has personally known the tragic impact that this can have on peoples lives, as well as battling through depression myself, mental health is something that I care deeply about. Yesterday was R U Ok? day, but it doesn't have to be just one day a year - every day is a good day to reach out to someone who maybe you haven't heard from in an unusually long time, or someone who has suddenly gone quiet on social media - classic signs that they could be struggling and trust me on this - when you're in that dark space, the hardest thing in the world to do is to reach out and ask for help - you NEED someone to reach out to you.

17.01.2022 One of the biggest drawbacks of being on a restrictive diet is, well, the restriction. Your favorite foodsmaybe even entire food groupsare off-limits. You may be excited that you’re losing weight, but you really miss ice cream and chocolate and french fries. And that is why diets don't work. Instead, try the 80/20 rule, where 80% of the time you eat the real whole minimally processed foods you know you 'should' be eating, and 20% of the time you give yourself permission ...(cos I know how you beat yourself up and do the guilt trip thing...) to indulge a little. A little...its not an invitation to an all out feast! But what does 80/20 actually look like? Well count up the number of meals you have in an average week e.g 3 meals/day = 21 meals. 80% of 21 = 17 (rounded up cos what is 0.8 of a meal??) 20% of 21 = 4 So 4 meals a week, give yourself a break, have that birthday cake at work or a pizza or burger. If you want to take it up a notch and really hit your goals, aim for 90/10. 15.01.2022 Time to say goodbye to Lucy, she is one of my favourites - Overall Figure at WNBF World Championships in Boston. Lucy marked the end of a phenomenal 3 weeks in the U.S and Canada where I won 11 out of 11 amateur world title lineups, 3 overall physique titles, 2 overall figure titles, 6 pro cards in 3 federations and all just 2 years after double shoulder surgery, torn tendons in every limb, frayed cartilage in both knees and hips and crumbling hip joints. 14.01.2022 I live by my motto - 'It's never too late, start today' and having transformed myself from being obese at age 40, losing 25kg whilst getting fit to climb a mountain, then going through depression and getting into bodybuilding by accident at 42, suffering a complete physical breakdown requiring double shoulder surgery and a full 12 months rehab at age 43 before going on to become 21 x World Champion at age 49, I think I embody this attitude.
