25.01.2022 Hi to all my Valued clients. Just to let you know I am booked out for entire month of December. Am now making bookings for January. Many thanks. Ed.

25.01.2022 Wishing all the attendees a great night

24.01.2022 This is the office today. Sea breeze a gift when trenching a house in this heat. Clairview Beach.

24.01.2022 What to do if you think you have termites..... Constantly people ring up and say they think I may have termites. The first thing people do is panic and rip the offending piece of timber off and hit it with surface spray. So what does this do? Well there are 5 species of termites in our region that are subterranean, they travel underground up to 100 meters from their nest in search of food!! Soft pine timber is a favourite and they know where it is and how to get to it. An ...established nest can number 5 million and a healthy queen will lay 1000 eggs a day. She also produces re productive s which are secondary queens. These do not produce lots of eggs but there can be thousands producing in a nest. So by spraying the disturbed area of termites you will kill 100 or so and the rest will go underground and come back another day. If you see wrinkled paint , mud seeping out of timber joins around architraves, door frames or window frames . A mud tube up the side of a slab is another teller. Anyhow if you suspect termites are about ring me. I will come out for free anywhere in sarina district as soon as possible and tell you if you have or have no termites. If they are ants Or something other then termites I will go away and you won't be a cent poorer. If they are termites I will offer a fiprinol remedial . This is a dust into a minimal disturbed working that gets taken back to the nest. This occurs over a period of weeks and will kill all activity in that colony. I will then advise on a barrier, a big job and expensive but keeps termites out for up to 8 years. A full quote is given for this for no charge. So if you suspect the worst, stop, pick up the phone and ring or text me. I hope to keep putting useful information regarding pests on this site. Your feedback will be appreciated and if you need further topics discussed... fire away.... Ed. 0418743696. See more

23.01.2022 You may be seeing a lot of these little fellows today. Yes they are termites, reproductive alates that flew their nests last night in low winds and extreme humidity. They only live for a few hours. They fly from nest and are attracted to light. On landing they shed their wings, pair up as male and female and wander about looking for a suitable nest site. The ideal spot would be damp decaying timber . Sleepers, stumps, wood based mulches are ideal. They cannot set up home in ...dry seasoned timber. Once settled they lay eggs and away they go. Within 5 years the queen will be producing a 1000 eggs per day. She will also produce new reproductives . When they get into your house it is done from underground, thus the term , subterranean termites. This is when they travel underground in search of food sources to supply their nests. They are known to travel 100 meters underground from their nest. From underground they bring moisture and can then attack dry seasoned wood.if you think or are worried you have termites at home on no account disturb or spray them.I use dusts and sprays that eliminate entire colonies. Surface spray will kill what you hit.... a couple of hundred, the other 4 million will keep foraging from underground. The flight event occurs usually twice a year in weather event we are currently experiencing. Ed. See more

23.01.2022 Just a idea. While travelling in Ute between jobs I do not answer my phone/texts. This is because I don't want to be responsible for killing some unfortunate. The number of people I pass who are texting at the wheel is frightening. Massive speed variations and weaving around are classic symptoms. Any how back to the point. I therefore miss a lot of calls and not all messages are clear enough to respond to . A lot of clients are texting me requests. This is better for me as I ...can reply during a lull in work during the day. If texting.I need your name and address to be treated, the job spec .... termite inspection, quote for job, roach, rodent or whatever, finally the best time for you . As I require pregnant ladies , babies and toddlers to be away from site for specified time , also fit in with clients own work schedules, or want job done while kids at school( always a good idea) So if it's preferable for you I would encourage texts to this phone rather then calls. If reception is weak as is common in sarina area , a text will still get through where voice mail won't. Any how it's food for thought. Ed. See more

13.01.2022 We hope everyone has a great night

01.01.2022 Although they cause untold damage to timber structures I Sometimes am full of admiration for these fellows. They look after each other, work together as a perfect team, are organised beyond belief, treat their women like goddesses , protect them to the death. Never stop working. 15 minutes after I breached this tube it was all patched up and air tight .

01.01.2022 Volunteers truly make the world go round, it’s a privilege to support organizations run by volunteers for the kids!

01.01.2022 What could be better on Australia Day then finding this little guy in my house behind a picture. Definitely not a pest. I ll release him away from house as we have a curious cat around.

01.01.2022 Happy Christmas to all my clients . Wishing you all a wonderful 2020.

01.01.2022 And people call me a Jonah....ever heard of termite fishing. Well here it is. Support post under house was drilled and found to be hollow . Twiddle a thin twig down the hole (isn't twiddle a great word?) . The soldiers think it's an insect encroaching so they attack it. Carefully extract twig and there they are.
