23.01.2022 In the excitement of the last couple of weeks I forgot to post up the end result of the snake sculpture. Came up really nice, and looking at doing a couple more. This guy is up for sale, so if your interested or know someone who might be, shoot me a message. He is 1.35m and pretty light. . . . .... . . . . . . #indigenousart #indigenousartist #australianartist #contemporaryart #contemporarypainting #aboriginal #aboriginalart #sculpture #driftwood #teaching #learning #culture #snake #snakes #environment #landscape #mixedmedia #naturalmaterials #traditionalart #artforsale #sarrainc

08.01.2022 The Natsiaa Awards were last night, and wow what good company I’m in!Although I didnt come away with a financial win, the fact that I was selected as a finalist and now have my work hanging in a major gallery is still a great achievement and my own personal win. Big thank you to Chris and Claudia at Grey Hand Press for taking me on and helping me to bring my art to the world. Also thank you to my family and friends for all the love and support that keep fueling my fire to be ...the best version of myself and what I do. You can view the exhibition on the link below and vote for your favourite work for the peoples choice award. https://www.virtualmagnt.net.au/telstranatsiaa ‘Let Me Speak’ Intaglio Print 2020

05.01.2022 Little Bub and a wombat getting to know each other. Did you know... The pouch a wombat uses to carry her young opens towards her rear rather than her face. This distinction allows mother wombats to dig without scooping dirt into her baby’s home. Because wombat bodies are fairly low to the ground, this backward-facing pouch orientation also provides extra protection to the baby, or joey, while the wombat is walking. .... . . . . . . . . . #aboriginalart #indigenousart #contemporaryart #brisbaneartist #story #narrativeart #digitalart #digitaldrawing #wombat #baby #native #nativeanimals #culture #australia #australianlandscape #stradbrokeisland #moretonbay #visitqld #tourismqld #silhouette #bonding #sunset #australianoutback #desertsunset #curious #peaceful #quietmoments #stories #ilustration #sarrainc See more

05.01.2022 And now to weave. The practice of traditional weaving wasn’t just the role of women. Men had a huge part in this practice as well. They would construct nets, traps and other useful items for carrying loads. This part of the project is to teach myself how to weave so I can perfect it for the next part of the project. 04.01.2022 Still working with the cotton tree, a branch is stripped and split to hand carve a set of needles. Ocher is used to stain and buff the ends to give it a nice polished feel. . . . .... . . . . . . . . . . . #indigenousart #indigenousartist #australianartist #contemporaryart #contemporarysculpture #aboriginal #aboriginalart #sculpture #cottontree #teaching #learning #culture #naturalmaterials #naturalfibers #nature #ochre #pigment #needle #stitching #staining #weaving #traditionalweave #environment #environmentalart #landscape #cottontree #cord #traditionalart #workingwithnature #sarrainc See more

03.01.2022 Quandamooka Boy Dolphins used to help Indigenous men hunt. The men would wade out into the water with there nets and spears at the ready. Hitting the water surface would create loud noises. This sound was amplified under the surface and the dolphins would then gather and chase all the fish in towards the men ready with their nets and spears. After collecting what they needed to feed the family, they would reward the dolphins with some of the catch. It was thought that they ha...d even given these dolphins names based on certain characteristics. Lately I’ve spent a lot of time on the water within Moreton Bay and reflected on stories like these. I dedicate this piece to the traditional owners of Quandamooka (Stradbroke Island) and the amazing sea life that surrounds the island. . . . . . . . . . . #aboriginalart #indigenousart #contemporaryart #brisbaneartist #story #narrativeart #digitalart #history #dolphins #dolphinfeeding #sealife #fishing #culture #islandlife #Quandamooka #stradbrokeisland #moretonbay #visitqld #tourismqld #silhouette #bonding #sunset #sea #oceansunset #beachsunset #peaceful #quietmoments #stories #ilustration #sarrainc See more

02.01.2022 https://www.bundabergnow.com//dylan-sarra-a-finalist-in-n/ Today this was published online. It’s an interview I recently did, that covers the artwork entry for #natsiaa Again huge thank you to all my family and friends that have been riding along with me on my journey. Tomorrow I will post the artwork again and the story behind it.

01.01.2022 First step. Turn the inner bark fibre from the native cotton tree (found near saltwater) into a strong usable cord.
