25.01.2022 "Its not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me." - Batman What a cool quote from Batman, I am a big believer in actions speaking louder than words. What I wish for my young Batman is the integrity and strength to be a man of his word. ... I wanted to capture our boy in his Batman phase as it has been a time in his childhood that has provided SO many laughs to us as a family. What better way than a gorgeous, soulful portrait of him. I wish I could add the sound of his Batman voice to this post for you, its a cracker and he does it so well. I dont do a very good one though apparently.. Gotta love the honesty of kids . What is your favorite memory from your childhood? See more

24.01.2022 I have been a bit absent from social media lately and there is a special reason why... . He was actually due to arrive today! Although he decided otherwise and arrived at 35 weeks. We welcomed our new littlest family member Xavier on the 7th June 2020 . What a story we will have to share with him once he gets older about the year he was born. He has settled in nicely with us all and we are loving getting to know the wee guy. ... I just love this shot I took of all of our hands together. Xavier decided he wanted to eat his at the last moment but I love that about the shot and I love how he is looking at all of our hands. As if contemplating taking our hands in his and walking this journey with us, the start of our lives together as four . Oh my heart! So just wanted to say thank you to all my followers on here and that I will be taking a break/maternity leave from my biz whilst we connect as a family at this special time. I hope to be back doing what I love and shining a light and lens on all of you beautiful people in a few months time. Sasha Mortimore See more

22.01.2022 Why get Maternity Photos? They are a way for us to celebrate the baby we're about to meet, to celebrate our love for each other, and to celebrate the strength of our incredible bodies. This is such a magical time whether this is your first or your last pregnancy. Each pregnancy is different and carries it's own special journey that deserves to be captured and documented. ... You are evolving and birthing as a woman and as a mother with each pregnancy and this definitely deserves to be documented. You get to share your images and thoughts, feelings, hopes, dreams, pains and joys that you went through at that time in your life with that tiny human when they are all grown up and maybe having children of their own. You will NEVER look back on this time and say I wish I never got those maternity images done. You will be so very grateful to have them! As I near the end of my second pregnancy I am reflecting on the journey that has been this time around. It hasn't been an easy one but it has also made me stronger for it. I am having mixed feelings and the fact that it will never be just the three of us again. Savoring the one on one time with my son while I still can. Wondering how I could possibly love another the way that I love my son. I am also so excited to meet this little soul I have grown inside of me and so grateful to have been chosen to be a parent, an earth guide, a teacher, a student and a friend by this little soul. How did you evolve throughout your motherhood journey? Did you ever get Maternity photos done? How do you feel when you look back on them? Do you want beautiful, timeless images of this time in your life? Send me a DM and you can tell me all about your dream session and we can create something magical together! Sasha Mortimore

22.01.2022 I just love the feel of this image. That moment where baby Imogen is just oblivious to being photographed and totally in the moment exploring the long grass around her. The beautiful innocence, in the safety of her mother's lap, captured forever .

21.01.2022 The seasons of life are always changing, Constantly moving in and out like the rise and fall of the oceans tide. We can lament the unpredictability of it all, or we can jump into the water and choose to enjoy each harried, hectic, serene and beautiful moment. ... - Kelli Stuart See more

20.01.2022 "Always remember... You are braver than you believe Stronger than you seem And smarter than you think!"

20.01.2022 When I look at this image I see a woman on the cusp of one the biggest transformations she may ever embark upon in her life. Transitioning from a woman to the mother. I love how vulnerable she is, bearing all physically and also surrendering to the unknown that lay ahead. I love the calm strength and purpose of her gaze. The simplicity, timelessness and strength of this portrait is what captivates me.... Who wouldnt want an image of themselves like this at such a pivotal time in their life. At any time in our lives! 20.01.2022 Who loves reading? Pre kids I used to read quite alot and lately I have started getting back into. There is nothing better than finding a book you just cant put down. My current read I wanted to share with you is all about Hypnobirthing, The Mongan Method in particular. A natural approach to a safe, easier, more comfortable birthing experience. ... I used to have no idea what that even was until I enlisted the help of a birth doula this time around. Helena from Dreambirth is amazing! And I am excited for the potential and healing this method holds after a traumatic birth experience with my first. To be honest I didnt think I was going to enjoy the book as much as I have, so I wanted to share it with you all as something to definitely read if birth is an interest to you or you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy or even have a friend who is pregnant. One thing I have found empowering about reading this is how many women all over the world are birthing calmly, peacefully and without any intervention. I had been so conditioned to believe that childbirth is a traumatic and painful experience that anything else beyond that seemed like a fantasy. This book, along with my doula are truly arming me with the tools, the confidence and the belief in my own incredible body as a woman that I too can achieve a birth as empowering as I have witnessed in some videos and read about in this book. Get yourself a copy, even if its not for you initially It will definitely get you thinking and is a very beautiful insight into the world of hypnobirthing. Sasha Mortimore

20.01.2022 *Words credit to NAIDOC.org.au Always Was, Always Will Be. "Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.... We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be." 18.01.2022 It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one. George Harrison So I ask you, when was the last time you were professionally photographed? Or your Mum? If not now...when?

18.01.2022 Hey there It's a new year and felt it was a good time to introduce myself to you. I'm Sasha and as you probably already know I am a portrait and lifestyle photographer. ... I am ultra passionate about capturing those special moments and connections between you and your family. I always knew I loved photography but I never really understood how truly important it was to capture yourself with the ones you love until I lost my Dad to Leukemia a few years ago. Loosing my Dad and becoming a mother at the same time was one of the most transformational times in my life and was a catalyst for change and growth within myself, a journey I still choose daily to be on. I am also very passionate about photograhing you... Solo! Some people love being in front of the camera and others not so much. I love photographing all women and I love it when that self conscious woman, feels awkward, doesn't know how to pose, has all the excuses in the world why she doesn't need this or deserve this gets the courage to step up and do something just for you. I take care of everything so you don't need to use that's an excuse any more. This was me! I have neglected myself and allowed my negative self talk to rule my life for too long. I I am learning to love myself each day so understand how scary it feels to allow yourself to be seen but through photography I am learning to see the power in the experience of a shoot that is all about you. What excuses have you got? Share them below, I dare you See more

10.01.2022 Life is full of ebbs and flows your life is no different. The key is to revel in the flow when we have it and to relax into the ebb and ask ourselves what we need in those moments. We need to be kind to ourselves when we reach a point in our life where we are in a natural ebb. It enables us to take a time out to recharge our over-taxed lives. How this relates to photography? We are always waiting for the right moment for something, the truth is their never is a right mome...nt. Your life is happening now in all its beautiful messy glory. I can capture you in your own unique ebb and flow glory...are you ready?

09.01.2022 What brings me joy in my business? Lots and lots but my top three would have to be; I love that I can be creative every day with it. Any thing I can imagine I can create, even if it's very difficult and I do a lousy first attempt I learn a shit load in the process of it and I love that, it helps me grow as an artist. ... I love that moment during a shoot where I feel that fire in my belly when I know without a doubt that I have just created some magic with the person I am shooting and I get super excited by the image on the back of my camera. I get so excited that if the shoot was at the end of the day I can barely sleep as I keep thinking about it and can't wait to get stuck into editing it. I am excited now just thinking about it!! Most of all I love that moment during a shoot where you, (my client/model) let your guard down. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable with me... To be seen.. In all the beautiful glory that you are. The way that you leave the session feeling like you are a goddess, like you can take on the world and the confidence that oozes from your eyes is just absolutely beautiful! You always are these things on any given day even if you don't believe it but sometimes you just need to be reminded of that and a photoshoot with me definitely achieves this. 03.01.2022 I recently saw a great quote posted via @consciousmothersgroup. "Learning can only happen when a child is interested. If he is not interested its like throwing marshmallows at his head and calling it eating". ... This statement is so true, I have noticed it within my own learning and really notice it with my wee boy. The topics he is super passionate about he has an insatiable desire to learn everything there is about it. This week we have been exploring all the different types of bugs in our garden and it has opened up the door for lots of learning and natural interest leading to lots and lots of questions. I find it so fascinating to watch when he is in this natural inquisitive desire to learn about the world around him. I wanted to capture this for my hubby and I to reflect back on in years to come and also for our son. So we can share the stories with him as he gets older. Do you have a child with a natural passion? Share it below in the comments. Have you documented it in some way?
