07.01.2022 GIPPSLAND COVID UPDATE Friday 11th September There is one new active case of COVID-19 reported in Baw Baw today. There are 16 active cases of coronavirus i...n Gippsland. Latrobe has 12 active cases, Baw Baw has two and South Gippsland and East Gippsland have one active case. Bass Coast and Wellington are the only local government areas in the region with no confirmed active coronavirus cases. Victoria has recorded 43 new cases today. The overall total has increased by 39 due to four cases being reclassified. There have been nine new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. Seven of those deaths are linked to known outbreaks in aged care. 4303 cases may indicate community transmission. 1336 cases are currently active in Victoria, 140 cases of coronavirus are in hospital, including 12 in intensive care. 17,661 people have recovered from the virus. There needs to be a fortnightly average of fewer than five cases in all of regional Victoria and zero unknown source transmissions to trigger any further easing of restrictions, beyond the modification to stage three which starts at 11.59pm on Sunday. The average number of new cases in the past fortnight is currently at 4.7 for regional Victoria. The total number of cases from an unknown source for regional Victoria is seven. Regional Victoria is now in stage three ‘stay at home’ restrictions. The state will relax some of the stage three restrictions from 11.59pm Sunday. From 11.59pm on Sunday, public gatherings of up to five people from up to two households will be allowed, and babies under 12 months old are not counted in that limit. Schools will start returning to onsite learning for all students in term 4, with some safety measures in place. Outdoor religious gatherings of up to five people plus one faith leader will also be allowed from 11.59pm on September 13. A "single social bubble" will also be created, allowing people who live alone to nominate one person they can visit or who can visit their home from Monday. Outdoor playgrounds and outdoor pools will be allowed to open from 11.59pm on September 13. A resident of the Mitchell House Nursing Home in Morwell has tested positive for COVID-19 and the facility is currently in lockdown. Anyone who came into close contact with the person has been ordered to self isolate. All residents and staff at Mitchell house returned negative results after testing on Sunday. A person who visited the Latrobe Valley between the 17th and the 27th of August has tested positive for coronavirus. The Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed the person travelled to several sites across the Valley, Casey and Cardinia local government areas. It is important that everyone with coronavirus symptoms, however mild, gets tested and must stay at home until they receive their test results. Those who test positive and their close contacts must isolate for 14 days. The most common symptoms of coronavirus are fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose or loss of sense of smell. There are four reasons to be out: shopping for food and essential items. Care and care-giving. Daily exercise. Work and study if you can’t do it from home. If you are leaving home for one of the four reasons, you can only undertake activities in public places with one other person or members of your household. You cannot have visitors to your home. Restaurants and cafes can continue to open for takeaway and delivery only. Indoor sports centres including gyms, training facilities and pools are closed. Community sport training and competition cannot occur. Masks are mandatory in regional Victoria. The penalty for not wearing a mask is $200. Gippsland residents cannot enter metropolitan Melbourne except for necessary purposes including sourcing necessary goods or services; work and education if necessary; medical care or compassionate reasons. COVID-19 testing is based on the clinical symptoms which include any fever, chills or breathing problems, specifically cough, sore throat or shortness of breath. If you suspect you may have coronavirus call the dedicated hotline: 1800 675 398. If you are unwell: Self-isolate at home, do not go to public places, do not attend work, schools, universities or social gatherings during this period and do not visit aged care facilities. The cumulative number of cases in Gippsland is 116: Latrobe (56), Wellington (16), Baw Baw (16), Bass Coast (11), South Gippsland (12), East Gippsland (5)

05.01.2022 Welcome to the world of Step 3 where we can at last conduct Non Contact sports for children and teens up to and including 18 yr olds. Here is some of the info from state government covid guidelines. Outdoor sport (contact and non-contact) can resume for people aged 18 and under, limited to the minimum number of people required for the activity (e.g. players, necessary coaches and umpires and those required for supervision of young children or to support people with ...a disability). Individual events, such as running or track and field events, can resume with up to ten participants taking part in the event or race at a time. The ten-person cap does not include those necessary for the event eg coaches and officials. Spectators are allowed if they are supervising children or if needed as support persons for persons with additional needs. You should keep at least 1.5 metres from others while supervising children. You must clean and disinfect equipment between users. Where possible you should minimise the sharing of equipment. https://www.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-third-step-region
