23.01.2022 Sometimes you wonder if people actually do their research prior to buying property. The airfield has been there long before the residents and those that are com...plaining. Perhaps people need to read Fly Blues website https://flyblue.com.au and look at their submission to the local people and government prior to making judgement on something they have little knowledge on. Clearly government has not followed correct protocol in the judgement that currently stands, we need to rally together and save Katoomba airfield so that Tourism can thrive in the blue mountains, which has taken a huge dive since the tragic bushfires and Carona virus outbreak. 20.01.2022 Why sign our petition? Since 1968, Katoomba Airfield has held a critical role: - in the protection of both lives and property in the Blue Mountains community and beyond from bush fires and other natural disaster - as an airborne safety ramp for all small aircraft traversing one of the most inhospitable terrains in NSW... - delivering opportunities for tourism, businesses and jobs in the local community and beyond Sign our petition now and please encourage your friends to do the same. http://j.mp/SaveTheAirfield

19.01.2022 There are already joy flights over the Blue Mountains from Bankstown and Sydney Airport. Currently none of the tourism $$ are reaching the actual towns and sm...all businesses in the Blue Mts. This is an amazing opportunity to keep the $$ local!! In addition to the potential revenue for local businesses, the airport will be kept in safe and clean condition ready for any emergency... unlike the state it was in previously. This has the potential to be a wonderful first impression for tourists to see the our National Park, learn about our environment, stay in the Mountains and experience the local culture etc... it has the potential to be a perfect training ground for emergency services, scouts, school children and local businesses... And the list goes on. Its a shame that many people are not aware that there are already flights over the Blue Mts! I am shocked that this is a driving factor in the NSW State Governments decision. 19.01.2022 Katoomba Airfield has been at the centre of the Blue Mountains since 1968 and has held a critical role in the: The protection of both lives and property in the Blue Mountains community and beyond from bush fires and other natural disasters. Providing an airborne safety ramp for all small aircraft traversing one of the most inhospitable terrains in NSW... Delivering opportunities for tourism, businesses and jobs in the local community & beyond. This Airfield is now at risk of closure. Dont let them clip our wings. 15.01.2022 Katoomba Airfield is at serious risk of closure after FlyBlues Aerodrome Licence was cancelled by the NSW State Government last week. FlyBlues new licence will only allow for access and investigative purposes, effectively prohibiting all aviation activity. The Governments decision follows an unfair and flawed Community Consultation process, one which was hijacked by the opponents to the airfield and was not representative of the local wider community. ... Helicopters have been a key element of Katoomba Airfield since it was opened in 1968 for general aviation, tourism and emergency services. This is a threat to existing use rights as an airfield and will likely lead to its ultimate closure. We cant let the airfield close. Its a huge part of our community. Its up to us to save it. 14.01.2022 Keep Katoomba Flying - you can help! Derek and I are local residents who are looking to invest in Katoomba Airfield bringing it back to life for the benefit of general aviation, local residents, tourism operators and enhanced infrastructure for our vital emergency services who rely heavily on it in times of bushfire and other threats to homes, businesses and infrastructure. Due to a recent decision by the NSW State Government, the airfield is currently closed. In the lead up... to the recent decision, many false and unfair claims were pushed by the airfields opponents in the Blue Mountains. If they were true, I too would have been troubled by the claims being made in brochures I have seen about joy flights. But we ask that you consider the facts Add your name and email to the petition below so we can fight to keep Katoomba Flying. Floyd, Capertee Valley, Greater Blue Mountains http://j.mp/SaveTheAirfield

14.01.2022 This is an important waypoint when crossing the mountains that I always considered as a good emergency landing strip. If closed then the alternative would be to land on the highway, which is dangerous.

11.01.2022 Lets keep going! Together we can save Katoomba Airfield! SHARE OUR PAGE and add your voice - we can keep Katoomba flying!

08.01.2022 We Must Support This Project ______________________ The Blue Mountains Business Community relies Heavily On Tourism as there Is Little or No other Form of ...Industry In The Area. Without Government Authorities Helping To Promote The Blue Mountains As A Major Tourist Destination The Business Community Will Slowly Die and Shut Down As we are now seeing in some areas. We Need To Support Any Form Of New Business...... Wether it effects you personally or not.....Because Im sure You May have Friends Sufferings Right Now Due to a lack of tourists. We all Have an obligation to help and promote all small businesses in this Country especially in the area we live. Think hard about the local businesses we all use on a day to day basis.....because without tourism you may well be needing to drive miles to find a nice restaurant, miles to find a great coffee, miles to find many of the shops you have become to rely on. Think Hard About Why Its Important To NOT Be Selfish Right Now Even I would be hearing a Bit Of Extra Air Traffic Noise But I cant be Selfish Nor Should I be !!!! See more

07.01.2022 In 2016, we lost a great Blue Mountains aviator, Rod Hay. Rod was the previous lessee and had been a flying instructor at Katoomba Airfield for many years. In his memory, a stone is laid on Katoomba Airfield. We would like to keep the dream alive of aviators like Rod and the many others who have shared the joy of flying with others at this uniquely located airfield. Obituary post: http://j.mp/2Uc3d1q One of the best ways to support the rebirth of Katoomba Airfield is to sign our petition and then encourage your friends to do the same. http://j.mp/SaveTheAirfield

07.01.2022 We have just been through the worst bushfires in history yet our government has no foresight to save the runway and the blue mountains community ! Lets share t...his with the greater sydney audience and see the reaction - a small group of activists holding the greater blue mountain community by the short and curlies - I doubt it! Get real and save the blue mountains and stop sitting on your hands thinking life will Get better - save the airfield - create tourism for business people who have just had their homes and business destroyed and speak up!! 07.01.2022 "A collection of Katoomba-based aviation licensees have called for a review of the NSW government decision not to proceed with lease negotiations for the Katoomba Airfield. Following the cancellation of the aerodrome licence on 28 February, which rendered the airfield shut, Capertee Valley farmers and licensees Floyd and Derek Larsen continue to raise issues with the state government regarding the validity of its community consultation process (CES)." Sign our petition to hel...p us convince Minister Stokes to consider an independent review of the community consultation process. https://australianaviation.com.au//katoomba-licensees-cal/

06.01.2022 It needs to be saved to keep the Blue Mountains safe and up to the standards of living in this century.

05.01.2022 Were calling on the NSW Government to review this unfair decision, particularly given fair community consultation did not happen. No aviation experts were on hand during the consultation process to accurately answer questions from the community.

05.01.2022 "The current leaseholder of the Katoomba Airfield has called for NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes to reconsider a decision to cancel their aerodrome licence. Licensees Floyd and Derek Larsen have raised issues with the government about the validity of its community consultation process, which they claim was "hijacked by opponents ...who conducted a fear and misinformation campaign around helicopter joy flights." The airfield has operated since 1968. FlyBlues licence was can...celled on February 28 - a new licence precludes both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft." Help us convince Minister Stokes to consider an independent review of the community consultation process one that isnt hijacked by environmentalists and activists
