25.01.2022 Storms this afternoon. Hoping there's been minimal damage.

24.01.2022 After months of tour cancellations, we were so pleased to welcome some lovely visitors from Sydney, who enjoyed our historic buildings and native forest yesterday. The 2 families with their 5 children loved the chocolate scent of our lilies, seeing wallabies, setting up a wombat burrow trail camera and learning lots about wool production and the natural wonders of Creation.

22.01.2022 Spring lambs are arriving - this ewe will be busy! Very thankful to have such great pastures.

22.01.2022 We're surprised at the number of triplet lambs arriving this spring, and many twins. Possibly the exceptional season and pasture are responsible, as well as good fertility and mothering by our ewes.

20.01.2022 Shearing over for another year, with the ever efficient Wingfield team. Many thanks to all.

16.01.2022 Ground cover of vanilla lilies, tall bluebells and native yellow daisies, plus native grasses in full head.

14.01.2022 If these do work, what a great idea!

13.01.2022 Some spring flowers on a walk at Boat Rock today.

12.01.2022 So good to have guests in our Farmstay again, within COVID protocols. Michael & Kathleen enjoyed our history and environment especially.

12.01.2022 For nearly 5 years we have greatly enjoyed the presence of a leucistic roo (named Batjatj, meaning white) who lived here with a small mob of greys. We mapped her movements on our property. Being totally wild and free, she & her mob wandered a little further sometimes. A post about her in 2016 drew some trophy hunter responses, so for her own protection, we reluctantly did not post her on FB. Such a pity, not feeling able to freely share such a special example of Creation. Roos and vehicles are not a good combination...sometime in the last few days, Batjatj was hit by probably a large vehicle, and lay in the tabledrain. Some insensitive trophy hunter souvenired an ear Very sorry to see such an ending to her life. Photographing her & her mob was an interesting challenge! Even at a distance, she stood out!

11.01.2022 Today would have sent those early reptiles back to their hidey holes. It's not the snow of Ballarat, but hail and freezing winds were cold enough!!

09.01.2022 First reptile for the summer.... Bearded Dragon

08.01.2022 On Wednesday 18th November, it will be 40 years since a horrific day for Savernake residents. Homes, a school, buildings, stock and infrastructure across our district were destroyed by two separate fires on a hot day with a roaring wind. Thankfully no lives were lost, due to foresight of locals who contacted the bus drivers, so children and staff of the school were evacuated to Rennie.

06.01.2022 One of the mobs yarded up ready for the shears.

06.01.2022 Approaching storm to our east this evening.

06.01.2022 Why can't masks be binned, WITH the loops broken.

05.01.2022 After an autumn and winter of cancelled tours, we hosted our first visitors today. Keen photographers, they were more than happy with a 3-hour walk in the most biodiverse area of the forest. My little point&shoot was a toy in comparison, but at least I got enough of this rufous whistler to ID it. Glorious morning of birdsong in the bush. It's so nice to be welcoming guests again, even if just on a small scale.

02.01.2022 As per usual, a bearded dragon is the first reptile seen for the summer season. Second is often goannas, then come the legless species....!!
