17.01.2022 We are excited to announce that AGBU will be joining us on our stand (D9 & D10 Durack Pavilion) at Beef Australia next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 pm. The ABGU team, including Deputy Director, Dr. Stephen Miller and Principal Scientist, Dr. David Johnston will be available to meet with producers each afternoon, providing valuable insight into AGBU’s latest research and development of the #BREEDPLAN technology. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

16.01.2022 SBTS Technical Officer, Catriona Millen, presented a webinar on 'Breeding for Production System Efficiency' at the invite of the North West Beef Extension Network and the North West Local Land Services in October 2020. It is now available for all to view on YouTube here: https://bit.ly/3rFQ1B3

15.01.2022 #BREEDPLAN has recently implemented a new method, GTBLUP, that allows the analysis to handle an almost unconstrained amount of genomic data. This is a world first for any beef genetic evaluation that strives to make use of all available genotypes and SNPs within a multi-trait and multi-country context.

15.01.2022 The #SBTSTBTS team are at Beef Australia. Find us in stands D9 & D10 in the Durack Pavilion. #beefaustralia #BEEF2021

15.01.2022 SBTS & TBTS are pleased to announce the release today of seven videos for the 'Recording for #BREEDPLAN' short video series. Complimenting the 12 videos that were released last year, these new videos give a short overview of the methods and considerations when recording performance information for the BREEDPLAN traits. They are available via the SBTS & TBTS YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/SBTSTBTS

14.01.2022 Here at SBTS & TBTS we agree that it is important that beef producers consider all traits relevant to their production system, rather than focus solely on a single trait such as growth. Managing relationships between growth, birth weight, calving ease and mature size is made easier when all of these traits are recorded. Curve-benders exist, but data is required to find them.

13.01.2022 When should you genotype your calves? Should you genotype all calves, or just those you are planning to keep. This article from the Autumn 2021 #SBTSTBTS Update discusses these questions in more detail: https://bit.ly/3m3ctmg

11.01.2022 TBTS Technical Officers Paul and Tim are in Malanda today presenting a socially-distanced #SBTSTBTS Regional Forum.

01.01.2022 Genetics: Balance essential, but in north fertility is key A comprehensive study, drawing on the best available information on northern herd performance, busi...ness performance and genetics, has been undertaken to demonstrate the impact of genetic improvement of cow fertility on the bottom line of northern beef businesses. The Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation study, undertaken by genetics and breeding advisor Sam Harburg, agribusiness consultant Ian McLean and geneticist Ben Hayes, collated data for seven beef producing regions in Queensland.
