13.01.2022 Today is St Bridgets Day or L fhile Bhrd. This is an old prayer from Mayo that would often accompany a ceremony of passing through a rope or girdle attached to a cross. Crios, crios Brde mo chrios,... Crios na gceithre gros; Muire a chuaigh ann, Augus Brd a thining as; Ms fearr sibh inniu, Go mba seacht fearr a bheas sibh Bliain inniu. Are there any ways of celebrating this day that you remeber or find particularly interesting?

12.01.2022 We know it must be so difficult for people in Ireland to see our stories and posts about a seemingly normal life over here in Australia. But life isn’t normal b...ecause we don’t have our family and friends with us, and we don’t know when we’ll see them again. While ye’re longing for a normal life, we’re longing for ye We only show the good sides of life in Australia, but believe me we’d give up going to the pub to be in our mammy’s kitchen having a cup of tea in a heartbeat. Everyone is looking for something that they don’t have, which is why it’s important to be kind. This won’t last forever and there will be a time when we’re all together again. To everyone at home in Ireland, we're thinking of you, love you, miss you and are always here for you - Nicola

08.01.2022 Ar Fud na Astrálasie Tá súil againn go bhfuil sibh slán ainneoin an galar Covid-19 agus na srianta sóisialta atá ann le míonna anuas. Ar an drochuair, bhí stop leis an Scoil Gheimhridh Sydney, mar sin ní raibh seans ag Pobal Gaelach na hAstráile bualadh le chéile i mí an Meitheamh mar is gnách. Chun a deis a thabhairt scéal faoi na ranganna agus na h-imeachtaí atá ar siúl sa scoil ar fud na thíortha, ba mhaith linn buaileadh le chéile trí Zoom De Céadaoin, 19 de mhí Lúnasa 20...20, ag 5:00pm WA, 6:30pm SA, 7:00pm NSW/Vic/Qld, 9pm NZ. Mar tá suim agat bheith páirteach, nó a bheith ag féachaint orainn agus ag éisteacht linn, clár anseo trí Eventbrite. Cuirfidh muid r-phoist duit trí Eventbrite roimh an Round-Up leis na sonraí Zoom. Beidh sé deas sibh a fhiceáil arís! --- Australasia Round-Up We hope you are safe despite Covid19 and the social distancing restrictions that have been in place for months now. Unfortunately the Scoil Gheimhridh Sydney could not take place this year, and so the Irish language community did not have a chance to meet in June as usual. To share news of what’s happening in classes and events that are being run around the countries, we’re keen to meet together via Zoom on 19 August 2020 at ag 5:00pm WA, 6:30pm SA, 7:00pm NSW/Vic/Qld, 9pm NZ. If you’re able to take part or simply would like to watch and listen register via Eventbrite here. We will send you an email via Eventbrite before the Round-Up with the Zoom details. It will be great to see you all again! See more
