08.01.2022 A little bit about one of our longest SOOSH educators. Hannah is a primary school teach so we are lucky enough to still have her with us during Vacation Care... How long have you been working in OOSH for? I have been working at SOOSH 10 years. When you were younger what sport did you play?... Netball, Gymnastics and Swimming Club. Do you still play any sport? I play Netball. What Primary School did you go too? St Mary’s Primary School Scone What are your hobbys? Travel, Sport and socialising with friends What is a funfact about you? Last year I travelled to Africa and went Whitewater Rafting down the Zambezi River. Do you work anywhere else? I am a teacher at Aberdeen Public School, I am teaching a K/1 class this year. Why do you love working at OOSH? My favourite thing about SOOSH is working with a variety of age groups and seeing the kids grow and change from Kindergarten up to finishing primary school. At SOOSH no single day at work is ever the same, with different experiences and families. I find it a rewarding job, where you grow and learn alongside the kids with their endless smiles and laughter See more
07.01.2022 UPDATE: the boil water alert has been extended to residents of Aberdeen and Murrurundi, in addition to Scone. BOIL WATER ALERT - Scone only Scone residents are ...advised to boil water for drinking and food preparation, until further notice. The recent heavy rainfall in the Glenbawn Dam catchment has caused problems with effective water treatment, making drinking water in the Scone water supply system register a poor raw water quality measurement. Upper Hunter Shire Council is working to fix the problem and will notify residents as soon as the water quality risk has returned to normal. We ask residents not to be alarmed - this alert to boil all drinking water is a proactive and preventative measure to manage the risk and ensure the safety of residents. WHAT ACTIONS SHOULD RESIDENTS TAKE? Water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil to make it safe. Kettles with automatic shut off switches can do this. Water should then be allowed to cool and stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated. Bottled water or cool boiled water should be used for drinking, washing uncooked food (e.g. salad vegetables and fruit), making ice, cleaning teeth, gargling and pet’s drinking water. Dishes should be washed in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher. Children should take bottled water or cool boiled water to school. The NSW Health website also includes special considerations for: Schools and childcare centres https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environm//Pages/schools.aspx Commercial establishments serving food or drinks https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/enviro//Pages/foodfacts.aspx
