19.01.2022 Come join us at the OPENING of the St Marys Community Space Saturday 26th September from 9:00am. Official opening 10:00am. The official opening will be at 10:0...0am with a couple of speeches. Pete Cornelius will play some tunes from 2:30 4:30, allowing time to kick back, relax and enjoy this wonderful and exciting new community space. Bring a chair or a blanket for your comfort. The park, located on the corner of Groom and Story Streets in St Marys, presented the St Marys Community Space Association, in consultation with the community, with an opportunity to develop a community space in the heart of the St Marys. This space will lift the public profile of youth and encourage interaction between the whole community. It will also attract people into our community and showcase this wonderful area we live in. Incorporating a variety of skate elements and features with both transition and street skating areas, the space will appeal to different styles, as well as different skill levels and allows for continued progression from the younger children through to the more advanced skater/scooter/BMX riders. We thank the Tasmanian Community Fund who were the major sponsors of this project, and all of the other organisations and individuals who contributed to make this facility a reality in our community. The community space also includes a birds nest (basket) swing, BBQ facilities, and outdoor gym equipment. Break O'Day Council will be organising an event on site during the day, more information will follow on this. Toilets are located approximately 300 metres away at the St Marys Library or in the other direction approximately 550 metres away in the St Marys Recreation Ground. We encourage visitor to explore the community of St Marys and the wider Fingal Valley while attending the opening. This will be a COVID safe event and EVERYONE will have to register at the entry gate, to comply with COVID tracing requirements. We ask that you practise appropriate physical distancing once on site, along with hand sanitising. We ask for your compliance with this requirement, so that everyone on site is kept safe. Important: A maximum of 500 people are currently allowed at outdoor events so come early to make sure you dont miss out!
