09.01.2022 The Recreation Club had another very successful cafe yesterday, A report from our Sunday, 23 August Cafe, with over a 100 hundred cups of excellent Resolute Roasters coffee and other beverages enjoyed, with a wide array of savoury and sweet snacks and music by Vinny Willman. Other people who would like to busk should contact me - Robyn 0425 216 350 This was our 4th cafe, so far, and to date we have raised around $1800 for the Recreation Club. This is helping to give us a str...eam of income, as our Northern Beaches Council grant will run out in September. The money will be used to pay for equipment, hall rental for table tennis, cafes and other functions and wages for our young cafe staff. Other ideas? At the moment, we are offering cafe work to three young peoplewhich helps them gain experience and skills. Jasmine Hall is running the cafe very capably, Amelia Sala is helping with the sale of food and Ben Shelley has just come on board as an assistant barista. Other young people who are interested should contact me. We also have a very enthusiastic team of volunteers who are helping out each week including Melinda Ham, Antonia Swift, Sharon Kinnison, Tim Turpin, Shane O'Neill and Colin Haskell. Their help is invaluable for setting up tables and chairs, taking orders and collecting money, and cleaning up afterwards. I would like to thank all these people and the ever-expanding list of bakers who are generously giving their time and resources to support us. The variety of food for sale is quite amazing and better than any commercial cafe! Unfortunately, last Sunday 23rd August, some young people over helped themselves to drinks from under the kindy hall, leaving empty cans of drink around the park. If parents could have a chat with their kids about this would be much appreciated. Thank you to all that have come to enjoy and support our lsland Cafe, We look forward to seeing you at our next Cafe morning on Sunday 27th Sept 10am-12pm. Many thanks, Robyn and The 2 Catherines Cafe Team

05.01.2022 Have your say on the Upgrade.

05.01.2022 Have your Say | Scotland Island Water and Wastewater Feasibility Study https://yoursay.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/scotlandislandwa Now that the feasibility study has been completed it has to go to the NSW government from Northern Beaches Council.... SIRA will be working with Northern Beaches Council, Rob Stokes and Jason Falinski, our local State and Federal reps, who all support that this work needs to be carried out. The new study shows that the work would be a lot less than Sydney Water estimated previously In their submission to IPART for their current licence. Rest assured that the Scotland Island working group along with SIRA will lobby IPART and the NSW government very strongly in the next few months so that the feasibility study be accepted and planning work started for implementation. The working group has not yet seen the final study but once we have received it we will be able to give you more information. Colin Haskell SIRA President

04.01.2022 Outages | Ausgrid | 15th and 20th October

04.01.2022 Kindy Survey Wrap-up A strong response to the survey exploring ideas for the kindy space saw an amazing 177 people completing it, that's something like a quarter of the island! See selected results/analysis below, with the full graphed data available here; https://www.surveymonkey.com/stories/SM-M92LZ58Y/ Ideas in the survey were those proposed by people at the public meeting on 26th July and published in PON 31/7/20. The survey's aim was to gauge wider interest in each; to ...see if any or all were viable. Results There was very strong interest in; "A cultural hub incorporating workshops, training, weekend art gallery, cafe, exhibitions, sales" with 84 people (48% of respondents) saying they were very likely to use it. There was strong interest in; "Cafe/drop-in center for casual chats and airing points of view" with 41 people (24% of respondents) very likely to use. "Knowledge share hub & tool library, recycle and repair, DIY classes on typical island tasks" had 44 people (25%) very likely to use. "A members club with focus on music, arts, dancing, may include social bar" 45 people (26%) very likely to use. "A community garden with workshops, plant exchange and growing space" 41 people (24%) very likely to use. There was also meaningful interest in; "Reference library, book share, book club" 72 people (51%) very or quite likely. "Co-working space" 40 people (23%) very or quite likely. "Creche or play group" 28 people (17%) very or quite likely. "Venue for sale of used goods" 59 people (34%) very or quite likely. "Adult education venue" 42 people (24%) very or quite likely. The standout from question 2 was "Co-op for sale of dry goods, vegetables, gas bottle exchange" with 97 people (55%) very or quite likely to use it. This was closely followed by interest in Art, Pottery & then Music classes, with one third or more showing interest in each. "Storage of park sport equipment", "Homework tutoring" and "Weekend/holiday childcare" each saw meaningful interest. The findings show our community getting behind a place of meeting, sharing, learning, socialising, art, culture and cooperative commerce. Interests characteristic to island/offshore life stood out. Rather than focus only on high scoring activities, the space may be set up to accommodate any activity that receives significant community interest; An easily accessed, multiple-use, community hub. A place with many activities available at different times and wherever possible, several at the same time. Set up well, a busy hub will foster relationships new and old, and make for a stronger community. Our thanks to all who participated, with a special thanks to Gail Mackenzie for her patient facilitation at meetings and for composing the survey. We'll now present results to the Council who will plot the next steps. Cameron Nicol, SIOCS Committee President
