19.01.2022 The Chifley cave is a treasure trove of amazing sights and surprises, featuring large chambers, many richly draped in colourful limestone crystal. The Chifley displays all the stunning limestone formations for which Jenolan is famous, including delicate straws. One of Jenolan's best examples of exquisite 'spar' crystal can be seen in the Chifley. The Chifley has a fascinating history, and was the first cave in the world to be lit with electric light - as early as 1880. In f...act it was one the earliest places in the world to use light bulbs - remarkable at the time. Two of its beautiful grottoes are still illuminated with historical coloured lights, a reminder of its unique heritage

16.01.2022 Large groups can easily view the massive chambers of the 'Lucas' - the most visited cave. This spectacular cave includes the most photographed limestone formation at Jenolan, 'The Broken Column' and displays a wide range of huge cave formations. If you have time to visit only one cave, the Lucas is one of the most amazing, offering variety, the highest and widest caverns plus a glimpse of the pure underground river.

16.01.2022 Junction Mine This lease was pegged in 1884 and the Broken Hill Junction Silver Mining Co. was formed in 1886. The wooden headframe, the oldest remaining on the Line of Lode, was erected over Browne Shaft in the 1890s and has been modified several times.

15.01.2022 The Imperial Cave follows an ancient river passage. It is a wonderful, memorable experience for people of all ages, including children. As the path is mostly level, with short sets of stairs, it is the best cave for less mobile or elderly visitors. Cave features include 'The Sinkhole', 'Ridleys Shortcut' (with a story on how it got its name), 'Lot's Wife', the 'Alabaster Column' and the dramatic' Crystal Cities' which looks like an ancient fortress. And as its name sugges...ts, the 'Shawl Cave' is filled with delightful cave shawls. When the floor of the Imperial Cave was excavated in 1975, bones were discovered. The bones of a Tasmanian Devil (long extinct on the mainland) and a Wallaby are on display. As you walk through the cave, you can also see marine fossils embedded in the limestone roof and walls.

05.01.2022 Just minutes from town. Take a sealed road up to Fort Bourke Lookout and view Cobar and its surroundings. See the open pit and entrance to the underground mine from a well-constructed viewing platform. Fort Bourke Hill stands to the east of the Cobar township and rising to 300 metres above sea level, it offers the visitor a wonderful vista of the Cobar landscape. To get to Fort Bourke Hill, turn off the Kidman Way, two kilometres south of Cobar. Drive up the left hand side of the water tanks to the radio towers for one of the best views of Cobar, particularly at sunset.

04.01.2022 Stunning landscape

03.01.2022 In the Diamond branch, the delicate passage is lined with pure white crystal formations, tinted with every shade of pink. The tour culminates at the ‘Gem of the West’, an astonishing crystal formation of helictites, stalactites, stalagmites, shawls and wave crystal.
