Both Novice and Experienced Welcome Location TBA Overview: Learn about short filmmaking (narrative fiction) - includes script analysis, scene rehearsal, filming and editing - both from an actor’s and director’s POV. An experienced teacher supports learners providing constructive feedback. Bring a notebook and USB Memory stick. Learn to exchange constructive feedback with the help of expert guidance. Practise conventional filming processes and protocols using professional film techniques, such as script analysis, staging and rehearsing the scene, camera coverage and editing. Learn to use subtext, mise en scene, beats and actions - learn to control your filming procedure and capture what you intend. Directors need to know where to put the camera and what to say to actors. Actors need to be creative and respond to taking direction and know how to ‘get into the moment’ and thereby appear realistic. Including interviewing, filming, sound recording and camera coverage, lighting, also Vox Pop procedures, ethics and protocols. As an ABC producer Richard is often the sole technician, so he has developed a range of self reliant techniques for camera, sound and editing. He will explain how this works as a way of working.
