17.01.2022 Epic Games, along with Screen Territory and all Australian screen agencies are working together to deliver the Unreal Engine Short Film Challenge, which is open to Australian residents only. The Unreal Engine is the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool and it is increasingly being used in screen production, including on Disney's The Mandalorian to generate virtual sets. As part of the challenge, create a pitch for a short film using the engine. The best c...andidates will be shortlisted and a final winner chosen for every state and territory. Each state and territory’s winning candidates will receive AU$20,000 to develop and produce their short film. Finalists will have their shorts judged, with the winner taking home a grand prize of AU$50,000. Winners will be announced in October 2020. 04.01.2022 $30,000 CENTRALISED INDIGENOUS FELLOWSHIP RETURNS FOR SECOND YEAR The call is out again for First Nations documentary makers in the Northern Territory and South Australia with the launch of the second Centralised Indigenous Fellowship, open for applications on GrantsNT. Launched in 2019 under the CENTRALISED banner, the Documentary Australia Foundation (DAF) Centralised Indigenous Fellowship is a partnership with Screen Territory, the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC)..., NITV (National Indigenous Television) and AFTRS Indigenous (Australian Film Television and Radio School). Inaugural Fellow, Northern Territory filmmaker Tamara Whyte, is currently undertaking professional development to further her documentary project Base 8, which explores the use of mathematics in Indigenous Culture. The DAF Centralised Indigenous Fellowship has been a total game changer for my career. As a carer, parent and Aboriginal woman working in film and media, having the opportunity and the support to craft my own unique pathway for professional development and mentoring has been absolutely invaluable, and has allowed me to take my documentary project to the next level, Ms Whyte said. Running across three years with one Fellow selected annually, the Fellowship is a funding and support program to empower storytelling and kickstart new projects from Indigenous documentary filmmakers from the Northern Territory and South Australia. 01.01.2022 AN UNREAL OPPORTUNITY FOR NT CREATIVES Screen Territory is delighted to announce that it is participating in the Australian Unreal Engine short film challenge. The challenge involves two weeks of free training (whether you enter the challenge or not) followed by a short film pitch. The Unreal Engine has been used on major screen productions, including Disney's The Mandalorian.... Epic is working with all seven of Australia’s state and territory screen agencies to deliver this initiative, which is open to Australian residents only. - Receive two weeks of online training from Epic’s ANZ team to explore filmmaking techniques in Unreal Engine - Anyone can do the free training, whether you’re an Australian resident or not.
