24.01.2022 Great news! We can't imagine how hard it has been for Australians down-south, who have been through lengthy periods of lockdown and restrictions, but we now look forward to welcoming you back to Queensland from 01/12/2020. Well done Australia!

20.01.2022 For anyone living in or near Port Douglas, this event on the 28th should be definitely worth a look. Learn about this amazing initiative by GBR Legacy, as they aim to keep a living library of coral.

16.01.2022 Awesome day for us, teaching Project AWARE courses via online conferencing. Congratulations to Serena on taking the time to learn more about the environment, coral reef conservation, issues faced, and how each of us can influence positive change. If you're interested in joining an online course with us, get in touch... www.scubaiq.com.au
14.01.2022 In honour of #sharkawarenessday2020 - here's a little shark biology 101. #learnsomethingneweveryday
14.01.2022 Well that was uneventful! Less than 24hrs after TC Kimi was introduced on the scene, the fun of cyclone track mapping and the mild hysteria and well, nothing. N...ot even a gust of wind. Yet ALL the media continue to broadcast to their millions of followers that Port Douglas / Cairns is in the firing line. The damage that misreporting about cyclones does to our town is devastating. Like everyone, we’ve suffered a tough year, this summer we won’t get our usual international visitors - now, we’ll likely miss out on domestic travellers because of this out of towner just cruising down the coast, hopefully sending rain to those who need it. For us, is business as usual. So hey Australia, come and Visit Port Douglas & Daintree. Douglas Shire Council | Explore Tropical North Queensland | Sunrise | Today Show | Karl Stefanovic

12.01.2022 It's no secret that we are blessed with amazing animal encounters on the #greatbarrierreef, and here is another stunning example! Hopefully it will be our turn soon with the approaching Minke Whale season...
11.01.2022 Great news! Fantastic announcement from New Zealand, which will help boost tourism to both countries, and allow families and friends to reunite.
10.01.2022 Go ahead, pick one...

09.01.2022 Awesome nature! While not the one we found yesterday, this little clip gives you a glimpse of one of the coolest things that can be found on the reef. Pipefish are close relatives of seahorses, and these along with all of the other macro critters are some of our favourite things to discover while diving.... www.scubaiq.com.au
08.01.2022 Meet our newest divers - introducing Sarah and Han! Nothing beats hard work, and over 3 days of training they both showed their skills in earning their PADI Open Water certification. Beautiful weather during the pool day, was then followed by 2 amazing days at the reef which included some epic dives!... Congratulations Sarah and Han!
07.01.2022 Our amazing #greatbarrierreef
07.01.2022 Solo scuba diving, while not for everyone, and does require a fair amount of skill and experience; is a great option for many divers from photographers to more experienced divers who prefer the freedom of going solo. If you are interested in this awesome course, reach out to us at [email protected]
07.01.2022 Doesn't get much better than this... We've been incredibly fortunate to have recently had some of the best conditions that we've ever seen, out on the reef! 2020 closed-out on a high-note, with us welcoming over 40 new divers to the scuba life; while also being joined by many other divers who simply wanted to explore the reef.... 2021 has already started well, and there are promising signs on the horizon. We're so thankful for all of the new people we've met from Australia, and hope to be able to welcome back our friends from overseas, in the near future. Stay safe everyone, and best wishes for 2021! #scubadivingportdouglas #scubadiving #portdouglas #divetripportdouglas #diveinstructorportdouglas #privatediveguide #padicourseportdouglas #scubalife #greatbarrierreef #staypositive #newyearnewgoals #2021isyouryear #maketimeforadventure
06.01.2022 Definitely safer underwater.
05.01.2022 Always nice to have some good news first thing in the morning! Hopefully we will soon be welcoming our friends from NSW, to enjoy our amazing home up here in #farnorthqueensland
05.01.2022 Happy international whale shark day! One of Scuba IQ's founders, Lou, has spent a lot of time in the water with these incredible fish over the years, especially during her time working in Mozambique. Check these facts to learn about these awesome beasts!
04.01.2022 You'd be surprised to hear that many locals either haven't been to the reef in years, or have never been at all. We're looking forward to creating opportunities for locals to either start diving, or to further their skills - watch this space...
04.01.2022 Queensland has reached a huge milestone, with the first quarantine-free arrival from New Zealand landing in Brisbane, on Thursday!
04.01.2022 Dr Tony Ayling has been diving and monitoring the Great Barrier Reef since the early 1980's, and the guy got out of the water after our second #greatreefcensus ...survey at Walker Reef this morning and said 'Wow, that is some of the best coral cover I have seen in a long time'. That is what the Great Reef Census is all about - getting out to the rarely visited parts of our marine park and checking out exactly what is going on, in the water. Awesome to be working in partnership with @citizensgbr to bring this vision to life. 04.01.2022 Sign-up for online study with PADI eLearning, and you will receive a 10% discount on the normal fees; as well as PADI making a donation to ocean conservation on your behalf. This is on top of the donation Scuba IQ makes to Project AWARE, on behalf of all of our students. Prepare for your next dive trip, and take advantage of this great offer! www.scubaiq.com.au
04.01.2022 You lookin' at me?! Of all the critters we see at the reef, turtles definitely have one of the biggest personalities going. While some of the smaller ones, less used to seeing big noisy scuba divers; often swim-off, the older turtles like this stunning Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) will let us come-in for a closer look.... This encounter happened recently at one of our favourite spots on Agincourt Reef - 'Advanced Bommie'. This site is an incredible tower of rock and coral, and is a sure shot crowd pleaser! #turtle #greatbarrierreef #scubadiving #portdouglas
04.01.2022 We have seen so many people in 2020, taking the chance to do something they had always wanted to, but never found the time. If you have been thinking about levelling-up and taking another dive course beyond Open Water, now is a great time! #padicourseportdouglas

02.01.2022 Incredible day at Agincourt Reef today for our certified divers, Nadine & Jerry! With great visibility in very "fishy" conditions, we were lucky to see spotted eagle rays; bull ray; reef sharks; hawksbill & green turtles; Moray eels; cuttlefish, plus a whole host of other critters. Thanks to Nadine and Jerry for an awesome trip!
02.01.2022 #BREAKING: Queensland will open its border to New Zealand from early tomorrow morning, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says. 01.01.2022 Glamour days at the Outer Great Barrier Reef! While the winds are on their way back up over the weekend, the previous 2 weeks were absolute glory, offering blue skies, warm water, and incredible visibility. Spring is just around the corner now, and with that we will start to see more weather like this!!... #scubadiving #glassout #portdouglas #scubadivingportdouglas #divetripportdouglas #padiinstructorportdouglas #tropicalgetaways #fairweathersailor #holidayathome2020 #coralreef #greatbarrierreef #tourismportdouglas #privatediveguide
