23.01.2022 DRAFT SDMA CALENDAR FOR 2021 The 2021 calendar has 10 events, starting in February and finishing in November. It includes two lap events in June and November and a round of the NSW Hill Climb Championship in October. Most events are early in the month. The calendar still has to be approved by the ACT Environment Protection Authority (EPA), which regulates the use of noise credits at Fairbairn Park. We hope to get that approval fairly soon. If anything changes we will noti...fy everyone using the club Facebook page and e-mail. The NSW Hill Climb Championship Round is scheduled for Sunday 3 October (the long weekend) with practice on Saturday 2 October. That’s the date given to us by the NSW Hill Climb Panel, but it may change because the championship calendar has yet to be approved by Motorsport Australia. Entry fees for 2021 will be the same as for 2020: $85 for a single lap event ($50 for juniors) and $105 for a two lap event ($50 for juniors). #sdma #sdmahillclimb

15.01.2022 Entries are now open for the 20th anniversary one lap hillclimb being held on the 22nd of November. Please use the On-Line Entry system on the website. SDMA has a lot to celebrate on 22 November and special features of the day include:... -Anyone who competed in the first SDMA hillclimb twenty years ago in 2000 will get free entry to the event (please note this is a correction for a typo in Over The Hill, our newsletter). -All previous ACT HillClimb Champions will be invited to be part of the celebration, either by competing or coming to watch. -All competitors will receive a 20th Anniversary commemorative cap with the 20th Anniversary logo. -Competitors will get a free sausage sandwich and soft drink at lunchtime. After the last run for the day, there will be a catered social gathering for competitors, family members, pit crew, officials and invited guests. The 20th Anniversary HillClimb will be the last round of the 2020 ACT Hillclimb Championship, but there will be a difference. Instead of Fastest Time of the Day being the top award, which favours the modified classes over Types 1, 2 and 3 classes, the main prize will be a special 20th Anniversary HillClimb Trophy, for the driver who performs best on the day compared with their class record. Times will be compared with the class record as a percentage and whoever beats, or gets closest to, their class record will be the day’s winner. (This is the way the count back for the ACT HillClimb Championship is decided if there is a tie at the end of the year.) Class awards will be presented as usual and points will be awarded towards the 2020 ACT HillClimb Championship. Entry to the event is open to all club members unless you live in Victoria; You live in an ACT Government designated COVID affected area in NSW, currently Camden Local Government Area (LGA); Liverpool City LGA; Bayside LGA; Randwick LGA; Waverly LGA; and the suburb of Lakemba See https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/community/travel/nsw ; You have visited, or plan to visit, Victoria or an ACT Government designated COVID affected area in NSW in the 14 days before the event. You can bring pit crew members and up to two family members to the event if you wish. You will need to e-mail the name(s) of any pit crew or family members to the Event Secretary ([email protected]) BEFORE WEDNESDAY 18 NOVEMBER. Other than pit crew and family members registered with the Event Secretary and guests invited by SDMA, there will be no general spectators. COVID-19 requirements have significantly changed the entry process. Motorsport Australia (MA) requires that the complete entry, scrutineering and paperwork checking process be done on-line to remove as many potential COVID-19 transmission points as possible

13.01.2022 WORKING BEE SATURDAY 8am The track and facilities need to be prepared for Sunday’s hill-climb so there will be a working bee on Saturday morning. There is dirt and gravel on parts of the track, tree bark and debris on some of the pit roads, some grass to be cut (although Terry Bennett has done a great job this week getting most of the mowing done) and general cleaning up around the pit area, the Pit Stop Café and central toilet block. So the main jobs will be sweeping and cle...aning up, in addition to the normal tasks of cleaning the Pit Stop Café area and checking the toilet blocks. The forecast is for rain on Saturday (Sunday looks good though). So please bring rain gear as well as normal protective work gear particularly boots and gloves. Work will start around 8.00 o’clock. The more people who help out the quicker it will be finished.
