25.01.2022 We are extremely thrilled to be partnering with RACV Solar to bring energy efficient solutions to our Queensland and NSW facilities. The benefits of renewable energy are well documented, which is why we are installing approximately 6000 solar panels on the roofs of our facilities to help us enjoy the cost savings on power usage, while doing our bit to look after the environment.... Read more about this exciting project in the post below.

21.01.2022 Wonderful Words of Wisdom from our Seabrook residents.

21.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more

18.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

18.01.2022 Another wonderful poem to be shared and enjoyed, written by the very talented Ron, who lives at our CapellaBay home in Capalaba, Qld.

16.01.2022 This week is National Carers Week and it aims to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and all religions. There are an amazing 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend. From all of us at McKenzie Aged Care, we take this opportunity to thank all the carers who dedicate their time to looking after a loved one or a fam...ily member. We recognise the amazing contribution and positive impact you make to the lives of many. It’s also a good time to remember that carers need time to rest and recuperate too. Your health and wellbeing is as important as the person you care for. Consider McKenzie Aged Care Respite and enjoy a well-earned rest. While your loved one is experiencing the comfort, hospitality and quality care at one of our welcoming homes, you can take some time for yourself. Why not take advantage of our current limited-time special - Book two weeks of respite and the second week is FREE! For more information contact us today on 1300 899 222.

11.01.2022 Every year since McKenzie’s first home opened in 2000, Mary-Ann McKenzie along with family members and friends help decorate most of our McKenzie Christmas trees. This years festive season looks a little different around our homes. Due to travel restrictions, Mary-Ann and daughter, Casey could only continue on the tradition for our 6 Victorian homes. Our Queensland and New South Wales homes would not miss out completely though. They were given the ‘secret manual’ on how to de...corate their trees the McKenzie way, which as you can see from the photos below, is pretty amazing. Mary-Ann says "Christmas time is my favourite time of the year, and I really enjoy being able to spread the Christmas cheer in our homes". We hope to see the ‘McKenzie Elves’ back in our homes next year, continuing on this special family tradition.

10.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.
