10.01.2022 Hi everyone, Last years fire season in the Seaforth and surrounding areas was quiet considering what some other areas in the country went through. The weather and conditions here were similar if not worse than the 2018 season. The community was better prepared and more vigilant which made a big difference in minimising the number of fires and how quickly we responded to them. However, we cant rely on the old Shell be right attitude. Times have changed and we should be ...expecting more of this to come. It is now time to be getting ready for this years fire season. Since December this area has again had an excellent growing season which means there is a lot of bushfire fuel building up on top of the previous years. The area is nice and green now, but things will soon quickly dry off as the weather changes. Easter is a beautiful time of year to be out doing some gardening, and with that, gathering a pile of green waste. Try to get rid of it or burn it now. Dont leave it until October or later to burn it. By then itll be too dry and dangerous. Next fire season seems a long way off, but how it pans out depends on what we as a community and individuals do between now and then. Simple things like cleaning up the yard, keeping the lawn tidy, clean fence lines and property roads. Take time to talk about your Bushfire Survival Plan with your family and neighbours. For further information call, Warden - Seaforth District No.1- Steve Smith on 0417 731 569 Warden Seaforth District No.2 - Chris Fredrickson on 0429 067 134 Warden Seaforth Town Bert Benson on 4959 0669 www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au Plan ahead and make your luck NOW!
