20.01.2022 Take a look down my microscope. These Australian Bass eggs are about 40 hours after fertilisation and are just 4 or 5 hours away from hatching. In another hour or so their tiny hearts will start beating and they start to wriggle inside the egg. When they hatch they are just 3mm long and almost transparent. Very cute.

16.01.2022 Australian Bass eggs scooped from the spawning tank.

08.01.2022 Check out some hatchery action. Usually the Bass spawn in the tank 36 hours after hormone injection. The eggs are fertilised by the male at the time of spawning. Then we gently scoop the eggs from the tank count them and transfer them into incubation tanks for hatching.

07.01.2022 We have Australian Bass and Silver Perch fingerlings available right now in a range of sizes

06.01.2022 Some 10cm Silver Perch from Searle Aquaculture

04.01.2022 Hatchery action part 2 if the Bass don't spawn naturally in the tank we need to provide some assistance. Female and male Bass are anaesthetised and the milt from the male and the eggs from the female are gently stripped into a small amount of water where fertilisation takes place immediately. The eggs are then counted into the incubator tanks for hatching.

03.01.2022 Counting Australian Bass eggs. 50,000 per tea strainer.
