18.01.2022 At 11.57pm on the 30th June 2018 after 85 years of Government bus services the final service operated in Region 6. Route 478 from Rockdale to Ramesgate was fol...lowed by 3 former State Transit buses that previously operated in region 6 along with a large group of fans who braved the bitter winter cold to farewell State Transit. 08.01.2022 The following article is posted at the request of a friend of Sea To Sand. The comments and opinions below are of the original author & do not necessarily reflect the views of Sea To Sand or its affiliated partners. Thank you.... Id like to ask my friends and family to please send this off, to save the critical Guards role on our Interurban trains. Most of you probably arent aware of the State Government and NSW Railways plans to remove the current Guards role from the train because you have been purposely left in the dark. The proposed role for the Guard on the New Intercity Fleet is a token, something to please people who want two people on the train. What you dont know, is the role will be majorly cut down from what it is today. Guards are proposed to no longer watch the train into and out of the platform, operate the passenger doors, prepare the train for service, divide and amalgamate trains or assist the driver in empty car running to and from depots, yards and station. Their will be no more back up to the drivers safety system on board or moving the train in the event a driver becomes incapacitated. This means public safety is being put at risk, it means drivers health AND safety is being put at risk and the lives and careers of the 350 Intercity Guards is being put at risk. The sad but predicable truth is the government does not give a flying fuck about us or their people. They play an important role in the Operation and Observation of passengers trains and this is being put at risk. If you want Guards on the New Interurban Fleet watching you and your loved ones safely boarding the train or while the train is in motion via the new CCTV cameras, please sign and send this off to send these idiots a message. ***TRANSPORT MINISTER ANDREW CONSTANCE PROMISED THE CURRENT GUARDS ROLE WOULD STAY ON THE NEW FLEET, AND THEY HAVENT KEPT THAT PROMISE***
