18.01.2022 Baby Platypuses! The name platypus was derived in 1799 from the Latin Platypus anatinus, meaning flat-footed, duck-like. Many naturalists thought it was a hoax... when they first encountered it (we can see why!). Of course, its also one of the few mammals to lay eggs instead of giving birth. Nature is amazing! See more

10.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to our cub Oscar! We are proud of you! You have shown everyone that one person can make a difference!!!! Well done on winning the Spirit of the ride award! Written on behalf of Oscar (Thursday Cub) Hello everyone, This time last year when i was a Joey, I announced to all of our Scout sections about my fundraising idea for Lifecycle for CanTeen. I said that i would ride my bike for 20kms every fortnight for the next year and asked if people would like to don...ate their 20c pieces to help this wonderful charity. I called it "Oscars 20-4- CanTeen. My hope was that I would be able to ride 520 kms in 12 months. Well i have stuck to that commitment. With the annual Lifecycle for CanTeen ride that my dad participates in every year happening this weekend I am asking if you would like to donate 1 last time before I count the money. I think I have ridden up and down just about every street in Secret Harbour over the last year. I have also ridden around Baldivis, Golden Bay Singleton and Rockingham. All my rides have been just for CanTeen, (not riding to and from school etc.) I have ridden in the rain and in the hot sun. Ive had punctures and chains fall off. My bike broke last year and I continued to ride on a stationary bike at home until I got a new bike. I also broke my arm last year and that didnt stop me either. Most of my rides have been with my mum, but I have taken Dad and my brother Cooper with me too as well as my friend Lillee. So far I have ridden over 550 kms, with two more rides planned before the weekend. Thank you too everyone who has supported me over the last 12 months. I am already planning a new challenge for this year. Oscar
