24.01.2022 Excellent effort by all the kids and teens that attended our Algester class on Saturday. Its so pleasing to see the ongoing efforts and development of our team at Krav4Kids In this video youll hear our younger kids inside the training room practicing their verbal skills ( challenges against a threat), whilst enhancing their physical self defence skills. Seeing our kids as young as 4 years of age doing this training gives us a sense of pride.... Also in the video youll observe a stress reaction drill that our teens do where they are using an improvised weapon ( stick) in conjunction with their self defence skills. To see these young warriors from 11-14 train with so much commitment is truly amazing. Well done team and on behalf of Portia, Justin and myself, keep up the excellent work. 23.01.2022 At Krav4Kids, our team are constantly doing everything we can to contribute towards society, and provide the very best training and education for our members. Part of this is our own ongoing professional development. During my time as a Federal Agent with the Australian Federal Police, I witnessed first hand the misery which is Human Trafficking. I was involved in various operations involving the exploitation of people, and it’s a subject that’s close to my heart. I’ve seen ...it first hand throughout South East Asia, as well as here in Australia and it’s evil and dark. This week I completed further training in Human Trafficking and the exploitation of woman and children with the United States based Guardian Group. The Guardian Group are a Team of Teams, comprised of former special operations military, law enforcement and intelligence community professionals, working to disrupt sex trafficking in the United States. One of the reasons we train our members the way we do at Krav4Kids, is to help prevent them being abducted by predators that wish to do harm to them, or those with evil and vile connections in Human Trafficking. 19.01.2022 In November 2018 I was invited to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to conduct a series of Street Edge Krav Maga seminars to various MMA gyms, as well as martial arts groups, security teams and government personnel. Whilst there I was asked if Id like to be the mentor and trainer for a group of young up and coming fighters who had fights scheduled at a Fight Night a few days prior to me returning to Australia. As some of you may understand, theres a huge difference between competitive ...fighting in a cage/ring, compared to Real World violence. For competition fighting there is a huge degree of physical and mental preparation, however; again this is very different to preparation for a Real World encounter. Furthermore, there are rules and several other factors that separate the two. Training several hundred amazing fighters over 10 days was an incredible experience, as well as extremely rewarding. What was very humbling was watching their growth and success as they incorporated many of our Street Edge Krav Maga mindset and tactical methodologies. No matter which style or system you train in, theres always a benefit to looking outside the box, and out of your comfort zone. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of crap taught out there in the self defence community, as well as in many Krav Maga systems. Teaching students defensive measures against firearms is a very important part of any training curriculum, however; there are too many so called instructors that know very little about firearms, how they operate, and the realistic threats and dangers of trying to disarm a determined, ...and highly motivated attacker. What is being taught in so many Krav Maga systems are bullshit techniques that give students nothing but a false sense of security, from the belief that they can disarm an offender armed with a firearm. Just because your training partner is standing still, and steadily pointing a training firearm at you doesn’t mean that the POS that’s threatening your life or the lives of your loved ones out on the street, or in your home is going to do the same thing as your training partner. When the shit hits the fan, remember that fancy techniques used for impressive marketing will be ineffective. 15.01.2022 On Friday morning, I had the privilege to present a Certificate of Appreciation from the Australian Federal Government to Scott Steer of Veteran Grappling. The certificate is for Scotts service in contributing to Australias efforts in Iraq as a member of the Australian Army. I first met Scott when we were both attending a Kapap Instructor program in Melbourne in 2006. Scott was still serving in the Australian Army at the time, and I was serving in the Australian Federal ...Police. Scott is a very experienced martial artist, a great bloke, and has proudly served our country during combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. This certificate is well deserved, and its part of Scotts legacy that can be passed down to his children and loved ones. Its to recognise the sacrifices made when on deployment in foreign lands where conflict has destroyed lives, and communities. We are now a COVID safe training facility and request that you follow our attendance checklist before bringing your children to class. Consider your childs health, if they are feeling unwell in any capacity skip their class and rest at home. ... Please arrive at class at least 15 minutes prior to class commencement. Please ensure you record your details at the gym reception in accordance with those COVID Safe requirements. Children will have their temperature checked by myself, and recorded on the sign in form. All parents and guardians will be advised to wait outside our classroom until our class has finished, and its cleared for you to enter. No spectators including parents and guardians are to be inside the classroom during the class. Please ensure your child brings their own water bottle which has their name written on the bottle. ALL water fountains at the gym have been turned off. Always keep a 1.5-metre distance between staff, members and trainers Children are to wash their hands before and after completing class using the hand sanitisers provided. All instructors will have their temperature checked and recorded in accordance with our COVID Safe requirements. 12.01.2022 Excellent effort by everyone that attended tonights Algester class. Unfortunately, theres a lot of crap taught out there in the self defence community, as well as in many Krav Maga systems. Teaching students defensive measures against firearms is a very important part of any training curriculum, however; there are too many so called instructors that know very little about firearms, how they operate, and the realistic threats and dangers of trying to disarm a determined, ...and highly motivated attacker. What is being taught in so many Krav Maga systems are bullshit techniques that give students nothing but a false sense of security, from the belief that they can disarm an offender armed with a firearm. Just because your training partner is standing still, and steadily pointing a training firearm at you doesnt mean that the POS thats threatening your life or the lives of your loved ones out on the street, or in your home is going to do the same thing as your training partner. When the shit hits the fan, remember that fancy techniques used for impressive marketing will be ineffective. You get one chance so if you dont train like its real, then you will become injured, or dead when it is Real. Stay safe, train often and always remain humble. 12.01.2022 On Sunday, our SEKMI India Instructor and Representative, Milind Kawade conducted specialist training for Range Forrest Officers of Yeur Range (Part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park). For many years, the Forest Department, Range Officers and Forest Guards have faced various threats from poachers, illicit liquor manufacturers, drug mafia cartels, and tribals who operate within the territory of the National Park. Each of the forest guards is responsible for 5 Square Kilometers ( ...1,235 Acres) of area in the national park, and they patrol on foot everyday throughout different routes. On many occasions the officers have been seriously injured, and each year, many officers throughout India are killed whilst on duty. The training provided by Milind and SEKMI India covered officer survival strategies, mindset conditioning, basic strikes, blocks, unarmed techniques, knife/edged weapon defensive techniques, and defensive measures against long arms and pistols and revolvers. The officers were highly impressed with the training conducted and knowledge imparted, and they have invited Milind and SEKMI India to conduct further training for all officers and teams operating in other sections of the National Park. On behalf of SEKMI HQ, we would like to congratulate Milind on his outstanding work, and commitment to providing first class training, and education to these officers employed in high risk environments. 09.01.2022 Today I was formally presented with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force International Law Enforcement Corporation Medal, by the Counsel General Solomon Islands. I was very proud, and extremely humble to receive this award for my service to the Solomon Islands as a member of the Participating Police Force PPF / Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands RAMSI in 2007. The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), also known as Operation Helpem Fren and... Operation Anode, was created in 2003 in response to a request for international aid by the Governor-General of Solomon Islands. Helpem Fren means "help a friend" in Solomon Islands Pidgin. The Solomon Islands Government called on international assistance to eliminate corruption from its public institutions and help rebuild the country’s crumbling social and economic infrastructure. Local police were struggling to restore order following civil unrest, and corrupt police members, so-called special constables, would frequently extort money from cabinet ministers with the use of high-powered military-style weapons stolen from the police armoury. This caused a major break-down of law and order. The warring parties involved in the tensions were the Isatabu Freedom Movement, and the Malaita Eagle Force. On the request of the Governor-General, an international response was organised, the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), led by Australia, which restored peace arriving on the 24 July 2003. The RSIPF was disarmed following the ethnic conflict, and RAMSI temporarily provided the armed policing and response capability. RAMSI subsequently rebuilt local capacity in the areas of police, corrections and justice and gradually transferred its powers to local authorities. Also in attendance at today’s ceremony was the Director Queensland, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Counsel General Papua New Guinea, Counsel General Nauru, as well as members of the Brisbane Solomon Islands community. 09.01.2022 I’m very honoured and humbled today to receive accreditation as an Instructor with the International Military Combatives Organisation (IMCO). The IMCO is under the direction of the Federation of Israeli Martial Arts (FIMA), and Captain Dr. Itay Gil. The IMCO is dedicated to the education and advancement of Military Combatives training for all the branches of the Military and its allies. Israel has one of the the best military in the world. This was competence born out of n...ecessity to defend itself from continuous threats and attacks. Effective and realistic training is a necessary component of military skills development. IMCO brings these techniques, skills, and philosophy to its members. This is truly an honour as not only is the IMCO a prestigious organisation, but its standards are of the highest order and to receive accreditation as an instructor from both the IMCO, and Captain Dr Gil (who I’ve had the privilege to train with and learn from), is up there with some of the significant highlights of my 35 year career. You all did an excellent job, and your ability to learn so fast and effectively is a credit to you all At any stage during our regular classes, you may be asked to demonstrate c...ontrol of bleeding from what you have been taught. Doing this will enhance your confidence, understanding, and ability to perform life saving techniques under stress. For our SEKMI members, we have uploaded several training videos from tonight to assist you in your ongoing training/revision. Included is a video demonstrating a scenario in an urban environment in low light conditions, following a stabbing incident. Parasites like this should have their nuts ripped out and suffer the emotional turmoil, similar to the emotional and physical pain and suffering endured by woman that are attacked and sexually assaulted.
