24.01.2022 Super fees hit record lows Fees across all super fund types dropped to record lows last financial year, according to a recent study conducted by Rainmaker Information. The key finding of a review of 2720 products offered by 169 super funds, super fees came in at a total of $29.6 billion in 2019-20 - down 5% year on year. 23.01.2022 A fraud syndicate responsible for hacking into Australian superannuation accounts has been uncovered by the Australian Federal police. Speaking to 3AW Breakfast, Alex Dunnin head of research at Rainmaker urged members to check their accounts and superannuation funds to reassess security measures after more than $10 million was stolen.

21.01.2022 Australia's best risk-adjusted superannuation options have been revealed by Rainmaker Information. Risk-adjusted returns are a measure of a funds ability to consistently deliver returns for their members whilst protecting their retirement savings. In the latest RMetrics report released by Rainmaker, Hostplus was found to have the highest 3 year returns, EISS Super had the most consistent returns and Club Plus Super had the fewest negative returns.... HESTA were found to offer the best risk-adjusted MySuper product, performing strongly across all three categories.

20.01.2022 Superannuation fund members are encouraged to take a look at their accounts before 1 July 2019, as a new law starting on this date requires super funds to report and pay inactive low-balance accounts to the Australian Tax Office (ATO). Where possible, the ATO will then proactively consolidate these inactive low balance accounts into a members active account, on their behalf.

10.01.2022 Superannuation's most complained about super funds have been revealed. Analysis of recently published Australian Financial Complaints Authority data detailing the most complained about funds shows an even split between industry and retail funds. Of the eight months worth of complaints, about 47% relate to insurance within super while 50.4% relate to the fund itself the data reveals.

04.01.2022 Tasplan Super has topped the ranks for member satisfaction as it readies for a pending merger in October 2020. The recognition comes as industry superannuation funds dominate the top ten list of funds providing the highest level of member satisfaction. The Superannuation Satisfaction Report, hosted by Roy Morgan found that eight of the top ten funds were industry funds. Industry funds outperformed the retail cohort, seeing an overall rating of 65.1% compared to retail's 59....5%. Rounding out the top 5 were UniSuper, Cbus Super Fund, First State Super and HESTA.

03.01.2022 The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has revealed the breakdown of what was complained about between 3 March 2020 and 31 August 2020. Superannuation complaints were dwarfed by other industries with just 817 of the 7420 total. Travel insurance complaints made up the bulk, with 2610. There were 910 complaints about credit cards and 674 about home loans.
