22.01.2022 Today we’re announcing $1.2 billion to support Australian businesses employ 100,000 new apprentices and trainees. Starting tomorrow, businesses who take on a new Australian apprentice will be eligible for a 50% wage subsidy. This will get more young people into jobs.

20.01.2022 #UPDATE There have been 10 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in Victoria in the last 24 hours. Please remember to wash your hands, keep distance and practice common sense.

19.01.2022 Our three priorities in the budget tonight: 1. Jobs 2. Jobs 3. Jobs

19.01.2022 A sneak peek of what to expect from next week’s Budget PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

19.01.2022 So many businesses reopening today simply wouldn't be there without the support from the Morrison Government. PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg have backed Victorians every step of the way. And our 2020/21 Budget backs Victorians in for the economic recovery ahead.

18.01.2022 A message from the PM to all Australians for the new year

18.01.2022 Australia, we have your back. We’re helping you, to rebuild our economy and create jobs. Read more www.liberal.org.au/budget

18.01.2022 #BREAKING: US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19. Details here: http://9Soci.al/z4zT50BHlqJ - 9 News

17.01.2022 #BREAKING TERRIFIC numbers this morning from DHHS with zero deaths due to COVID-19, and nine cases in the last 24 hours. As the Prime Minister and Health Minister have said, in light of these rapidly falling numbers a reassessment of trigger points from the Victorian Labor Government for further easing of restrictions would be welcomed. The Victorian Government’s current ‘road map’ to reopening can be found here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

17.01.2022 This is really disappointing to see. Venues like Cherry Bar have done it hard enough this year. If you can’t make it please cancel so they can fill their very limited spots!

16.01.2022 2020 was a busy year! To add to this list, the Your Super Your Choice reforms have come into effect today, which means in future no EBA can lock you out of choosing your preferred fund.

15.01.2022 No doubt our new underperformance test will make some in the super industry uncomfortable. But it is not the Government’s role to fulfil a wish list for super fund managers. Our role is to ensure that for Australian workers, the nearly 1-in-10 dollars in wages you are compelled to forgo is invested in an efficient and fit-for-purpose superannuation sector.

14.01.2022 A good summary of some of the restrictions that have been announced re home visits in metro Melbourne

13.01.2022 As I have said before: super is for the members, not the fund managers. Not all super funds are good super funds, and there are gaping variations in performance. According to the Productivity Commission, hardworking Australians whose savings have been defaulted into an underperforming super fund and that languish there for years through disengagement or the vagaries of their employment contract have drawn the losing ticket in the super lottery.... Frankly, the Your Future, Your Super reforms are long overdue. These reforms will be the next big step in holding funds to account and delivering more money in retirement for Australian workers.

13.01.2022 #UPDATE Victorians continue to keep the numbers low, with only three new cases in the last 24 hours and no deaths. Terrific work You can read more about the timeline for further easing of restrictions here: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-res

11.01.2022 Congratulations to my dear friend and capable colleague Simon Birmingham! A capable successor to Mathias Cormann, looking forward to working with you in this new role.

09.01.2022 This is such terrific news. Extraordinary work by DFAT and Foreign Minister Marise Payne We can’t wait to see you back on Australian soil Dr Moore-Gilbert.

08.01.2022 EDIT: The Victorian CHO has provided further details: "Of today's four cases, two are weak positives and may be deemed not to be true cases by the expert panel. One case appears to be historical/recovered. And one case under investigation." #UPDATE: Victoria has recorded 4 new cases of coronavirus, with 0 deaths being reported. Further details, such as whether these are connected to known cases etc will be released later today by DHHS.

08.01.2022 Another great result Victoria. Hearing stories from so many of the simple joy of seeing family and friends and loved ones, returning to favourite restaurants, the pleasure of browsing in a store...it’s so heartening you see after so many months of Victoria’s lockdowns. There’s a long road ahead to rebuild what we’ve lost, but the Morrison Government will back Victoria every step of the way.

08.01.2022 NEW COIN TO HONOUR FIREFIGHTERS The Royal Australian Mint has released a new commemorative $2 coin in honour of our incredibly brave firefighters. The coloured coin features two firefighters in their protective gear standing back-to-back, using hoses to put out flames around them. ... Will you be collecting this one? - ABC News

07.01.2022 #BREAKING The Hotel Quarantine Inquiry will hand down an interim report on the 6th of November. A further report will follow no later than the 21st of December. The delay has been caused by the Inquiry seeking further evidence from a range of parties, including DHHS and Premier Daniel Andrews.

07.01.2022 Sarah believes that all kids are born scientists, full of questions and a thirst to find answers. Capturing that spark early is so important. Her dedication to ...nurturing that spark as a specialist STEM teacher at Bonython Primary School has earned her recognition as the winner of this year’s PM’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Primary Schools. This afternoon I had the privilege of catching up with Sarah at Parliament House to congratulate her in person. She’s an inspiration and a very deserving winner.

06.01.2022 28 days! This is considered a tipping point that likely indicates that there is NO community transmission of COVID-19 in Victoria. Terrific news. ... And now with borders reopening with QLD and SA, no restrictions on travel within Victoria, we are close to the ‘Covid-normal’ Christmas we’ve all been hoping for.

06.01.2022 An update from PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and Foreign Minister Marise Payne on the release of Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert.

03.01.2022 A significant funding announcement from Health Minister Greg Hunt MP

03.01.2022 Today is World Teachers' Day, a day to recognise every extraordinary, inspiring, committed teacher right across Australia. I'm particularly thinking of my sister Annie, who like so many has soldiered through COVID lockdowns with two primary school aged children and teaching all the while! To Annie and every other remarkable teacher, today we say thank you for everything you do.

03.01.2022 Unacceptable. And we will strip them of charitable status as a result.
