23.01.2022 Earlier this week in Williamsburg, I joined elected officials and community advocates from Sane Energy Project, No North Brooklyn Pipeline, Frack Outta BK, and others to oppose the fracked gas pipeline from National Grid currently under construction. Building new fossil fuel infrastructure like this pipeline is a great excuse for National Grid to hike rates for New Yorkers, while directly undermining our ability to power our communities with clean, affordable, low-carbon energy sources. 23.01.2022 Thank you to everyone at Woodhull and and the artists who made last week’s unveiling event possible. It was such a pleasure to be able to honor the workers at Woodhull Hospital with a mural at the center of our community. A special shout out to the mural artist who conceived the piece, Imani Shanklin Roberts!

22.01.2022 Shana Tovah! Happy New Year to all of our Jewish neighbors. May 5781 be sweeter than 5780 has been.

20.01.2022 Rental assistance programs in NYC have created undue burdens for participants and perpetuated racial discrimination. We need to do better. I hope every legislator will read this report from Voices Of Community Activists & Leaders (VOCAL-NY) & Take Root NYC.

20.01.2022 Thousands of New Yorkers are left out of our democratic process. I want to give a thank you to Ydanis Rodriguez Carlos Menchaca , and Eric Adams for inviting me to speak at the Our City, Our Vote Press Conference. We have passed critical election reforms over the past two years to make voting more accessible for people. But now we must do all that we can to add the Municipal Voting Rights Bill to those reforms in order to make our elections accessible to more people who live and work in our city, not just those of us who are citizens.

19.01.2022 On behalf of the #GreatTeenth Senate District, I’d like to thank Veteran Ramon Agusto Lopez and his family for all the sacrifices that they have made while serving our country. Thank you so much for your dedication, and it was an absolute honor to have nominated you to the NYS Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame.

16.01.2022 Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. Thank you to all of our veterans for your public service and incredible sacrifice. Our country owes it to those who have served in our military to provide the universal care and services that they need and deserve here at home.

15.01.2022 On friday, for the first time ever, Woodhull Hospital and our community members community came together to paint a celebratory mural on face of the Hospital on the Flushing Ave. It was an amazing milestone with many elected officials including Rep. Nydia Velazquez, Council Member Antonio Reynoso, and other local Brooklyn leaders. Special thanks to Jessica Arocho, Woodhull's amazing Director of Community Affairs for conceiving and organizing this wonderful event. On Oct 8, the mural will be unveiled Stay tuned! 11.01.2022 First responders and their families continue to feel the harmful impacts of 9/11 every single day, even 19 years later. We need to prioritize taking care of them. We must continue to demand that they are given the support and resources that they are owed.

10.01.2022 We were out in Bushwick and Cypress Hills today reminding our neighbors to fill out the Census today because our community deserves access to resources like public school and hospital funding. Thank you to all who came out! If you haven’t filled out the census yet, you can complete it in five minutes here my2020census.gov

07.01.2022 Renters and small property owners are still struggling to pay the rent and bills. It’s urgent that we do our part in New York and act swiftly to provide them with relief. The health of our communities and future of our city depends on it.

06.01.2022 Thank you to all of the local groups, elected officials, and community members who joined our ¡Tú Cuentas! Immigration March & Census Fair this weekend. While we marched from Maria Hernandez Park to Irving Square Park, we celebrated our immigrant communities and raised awareness about the importance of participating in the 2020 census. At the fair in Highland Park, we helped over 200 of our neighbors complete the census! So many performers, artists, and local businesses broug...ht this event to life, and we were so thrilled to be able to offer the many services provided by Mixteca, ACE, Luis Gomez Alfaro, NYC ID, Cypress Hills LDC, Community Board 4, and Community Board 5. We were so grateful for contributions from Grand Morelos, Lucero Produce, Payasito Cincelito Los Chinelos Comparsa Santa Ines La familia, Dansa Tolteca Chimeca, Mariachi Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino, and Mariachi Nuevo Amanecer.
