25.01.2022 An incredibly talented candidate ready to stand up to represent her community! Good luck Lucy Hood - Labor for Adelaide. I know you will be working your heart out every day for the opportunity to represent the people of Adelaide. Emily Bourke - Labor MLC

22.01.2022 Today’s public holiday in SA is to mark Labour Day a commemoration of the hard fought for achievements of our mighty union movement. Thank you to those working today to keep us safe. We’re celebrating you today, too. Meanwhile, I’m in Canberra, here to defend your working rights in our Federal Parliament.

22.01.2022 With the Senate Environment and Communications committee learning about the impact of the summer bushfires on faunal species here at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary - Kangaroo Island. Thank you to Jim Geddes for showing us around (and helping us plant some trees!)

22.01.2022 The future of JobSeeker and what it means for residents and the local economy was top of the agenda in Murray Bridge this week

22.01.2022 When it comes to South Australia it seems the Federal Liberal Government doesn’t care. At the last election the Federal Liberal Government promised $720 million in their Urban Congestion Fund. Over a year later they are yet to spend a single cent in South Australia. South Australians need jobs now. With Australia in its deepest recession in a century, they Liberals must ensure these funding promises are delivered immediately.

21.01.2022 The neglect seen in our aged care homes is a national tragedy. These are our parents and grandparents. We have an obligation to care for them and to keep them safe. Sign our petition calling on the Morrison Government to fix Australia’s broken aged care system: https://www.alp.org.au/agedcareactnow

21.01.2022 With the support of Centre Alliance, the Liberal Government is bringing forward legislation today that will make it harder and more expensive to go to university. I will be voting against this legislation. It unfairly targets the aspirations of South Australia’s young people at a time when they have been slammed by record unemployment and more than six years of underinvestment in the education and training system. Today I stood with Tanya Plibersek, Amanda Rishworth MP and my Labor colleagues in opposition to this utterly crap piece of legislation.

20.01.2022 During the worst economic crisis in three decades, families are being left behind by the Morrison Liberal Government.

15.01.2022 The Royal Commission’s special report on COVID-19 confirms the Morrison Government had no plan for COVID-19 for our aged care sector. The foundations of our country’s aged care system have buckled under the pressure of a deadly disease and the Morrison Government did not do enough to stop it.

14.01.2022 What an absolute pleasure to interview my friend & mentor Julia Gillard last night with South Australian Labor Women's Network about all things women and leadership. Julia remains a fierce advocate for Labor values, children’s education and the advancement of women on every corner of our globe. Of course a big thanks to the brilliant Labor Women’s Executive for organising such a great event for our members.

11.01.2022 Labor will always stand with Australian workers to protect your rights at work. When it comes to structural reform, the Government’s Budget next week needs to heed one of the issues emerging from the pandemic job security. The Liberal Government must focus on increasing job security for all Australians.

10.01.2022 Proud to join the Transport Workers Union SA/NT and their members today on their National Day of Action for Aviation. The Liberal Government has failed to adequately support Australian aviation workers throughout this pandemic, with the sector lurching from one crisis to another and workers at every step left behind. Enough is enough: the Government needs to deliver a national plan for aviation now.... Transport Workers Union - TWU

06.01.2022 $51 billion later, and having wasted seven years, the Liberals have now backflipped on the NBN.

01.01.2022 At our Senate hearing into faunal extinction on Kangaroo Island we have heard stories of loss, fury, heartache and hope. Thank you to all the witnesses who shared so much of your personal experiences and ideas for species recovery. Clearly, there remains a big gap in the data to tell us where different species are at, and therefore what we need to do to help. That’s why I’ve supported my colleague Terri Butler’s call for a national, boots on the ground ecological audit. Let’s get the heart of the problem around faunal extinction into the light, so we can have a meaningful impact and see lasting change.
