20.01.2022 Ever considered volunteering as a caretaker for drought affected farmers? That’s exactly what newlyweds Meg and Ollie Clothier decided to do for their honeymoon. The Clothiers spent their first year of married life caretaking for farmers across Australia allowing them a chance to get off the farm for medical appointments, catch up with family and get some desperately needed time out. In the 12 months and more than 35,000 kilometres they’ve clocked up around the country, ...it’s country spirit of Meg and Ollie, and our farmers who keep pushing through the tough times to put food on our table and clothes on our back, that we should be celebrating this week in the lead up to National Agriculture Day. You can read more about Meg and Ollie’s journey below and by visiting @two_young_nomads on Facebook & Instagram. #AgDayAU #TwoYoungNomads ABC Western Queensland Two Young Nomads

16.01.2022 Did you know that from 2021, it will cost 62 per cent less to study agriculture? We reckon it's great news to share in the lead up to National Agriculture Day tomorrow. Thanks to the Nationals, it means more young people will be able to study ag, work in ag and stay in our regions. In fact, this comes off the back of ABARE’S research that found Australia’s ag workforce is growing and getting younger and with more women. https://bit.ly/3pEGgTQ As part of recent high educatio...n reforms, the National Party of Australia in government worked to ensure regional, rural and remote students were able to access choices in their desired fields including agriculture. https://bit.ly/38R46FB The Nationals in government is also investing $250 million for up to 400 short courses in priority fields to upskill our workforce especially in our regions which will play a key role in the post-COVID economic recovery. 15.01.2022 Our farmers and food processors already play a critical economic role as producers of our food and fibre, and are key to driving our national COVID recovery economically and in self sufficiency. That’s why setting policies that help our regions-based food processors and manufacturers remain competitive, grow their businesses and export to the world is The Nationals’ priority. It’s important to see and hear first hand from industry itself to get it right so it was great to be... on the road this week meeting with producers and processors and members of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals. 05.01.2022 Peter Taylor may be best known for playing 13 Test Matches and 83 One Day Internationals for Australia. He’s also been a farmer since 1990 and despite all systems go with the annual harvest underway, Peter’s making time to share his experience with non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) to encourage fellow farmers to get a skin check. An estimated 587,000 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year and 97 per cent of these will be a NMSC. In 2016, it was found outdoor ...workers, like our farmers and tradies, were 2.7 times more likely to develop skin cancers than those who work indoors. 04.01.2022 Over 102,000 men and women have given their lives in service of our country. Tomorrow 102 years since the end of World War One marks Remembrance Day, a significant date on our national calendar. 03.01.2022 It was brilliant being able to meet and discuss regional manufacturing with the Nationals Kevin Hogan MP and members of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals in the northern NSW food processing town of Casino (and home of beef week) today! Setting policies that help our manufacturers remain competitive, grow their businesses and export to the world is key to our COVID recovery. And the Nationals know it’s our regions that will play a key part in this and our regional workforce.

02.01.2022 Did you know the food you’re about to eat for lunch is likely to have been produced by Australian farmers? Today is National Agriculture Day so as you take that bite, or drink, spare a few moments to read how awesome our farmers are. Aside from our proud reputation as livestock producers (think of that juicy steak, roast or leg of ham), our agriculture sector produces millions of dollars worth of mouth watering seafood which is always a favourite for the hot Aussie Christm...as. Speaking of food from the ocean, here’s an interesting fact - Australia is one of the world’s largest suppliers of wild and harvested abalone with exports worth $158 million. Adding to the diversity of our Aussie produce is truffles, wine, horticulture (including fruit and veg), olives, wheat/canola and other grains, dairy, poultry, sugar, rice, wool, cotton and forestry the list is long and impressive! So let’s take a moment to thank our dedicated farmers and the more than 318,000 people who working within the ag sector for what they do in feeding us as a nation and powering our economy as an important exporter. Celebrate #AgDayAU this year by buying Aussie produce, holding a bake off, enjoying a BBQ or sharing the love on social media.
