24.01.2022 BEHIND THE SCENES... As many of you know, or may come to know, the journey through the aged care system can be very taxing. The bureaucracy of navigating the system combined with the emotion involving the placement of a loved one into care can be stressful for all involved. As an advocate for our clients, we also share in the ups and downs of your journey. So, what motivates us when times are tough? Yesterday, I received a telephone call. An elderly man asked for my assistan...ce as he was no longer coping looking after his wife who suffers from severe dementia. I wasnt planning on having any appointments today, but after hearing his loving and urgent concern for his wife, I knew I had to see him. Upon arriving, I met the elderly man and his wife, along with their daughter. The daughter told me that she was not there to be involved in the meeting but she said that she had overheard our conversation with Dad yesterday and I felt like you wrapped a blanket around our shoulders. The confidence and acknowledgement that this woman gave me was so touching, especially after a difficult week. It is moments like these that remind me of all the reasons why my job is so rewarding.

24.01.2022 We pride ourselves at Seniors Pathway in finding suitable aged care for our clients Our gorgeous Greek lady with dementia needed to be placed in a facility that had Greek speaking residents and all the Greek homes were full. Pressure was mounting for discharge, we were determined to secure the right bed and held our nerve. Our client is now permanent in an aged care facility with other Greek speaking residents, one of whom lived near her birth place .....a happy ending!

21.01.2022 I am honoured to be on the planning team at Eldercare for their new site at Kirkholme in Goodwood. We had our second meeting this week and I represent the consumer and along with other attendees, including Eldercare CEO Jane Pickering, Operational Managers and external consultants. We're helping to guide this new development. Feeling valued and respected and thoroughly enjoy adding my perspective through the consumer's eyes!!

12.01.2022 Today I wanted to share a special celebration of my parents 70th wedding anniversary. Together they have faced many hurdles and kicked many goals, most notably being the successful managing of many farms including a poultry business and raising of seven children and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 70 years on, they remain fiercely independent and strong. They are very loved.
